You round it out with hushpuppies, coleslaw, and a cold drink while the chatter and clatter make it feel like a true local tradition. Parkings easy, portions are generous for the price, and the staff keeps things moving even when its busy. You leave full, happy, and already plotting your next trip back.

New Orleans Running History: The Great Marathon 4 New Orleans. This is the 1985 race. Event was held 1983-85. Fantastic course !
Key factors that made event spectacular. Race Chairman Robert Ainsworth vision to bring on board WWL Channel 4 TV and WWL Radio for promotions/sponsorship. Along with Mackie Shilstone and WWL's Bill Elder. In the event management the local area's best in George Dedual, Mike Cambre, CJ Mouton ( apologies if missed any key people ) coordinating the event. Several thousand participated on a course that took in the best New Orleans could offer. I did the 1984 version with similar course but opposite direction. Entry fee ( are you serious ) !
Ainsworth would also put together several epic local events that included the: Great Canal Street Race, Great Carrollton Avenue Race, Great St. Charles Avenue Race as well as a 5K as part of the 1984 New Orleans World Fair. ( notice event names )
"Great" event the likes of what we may never see again.
