Dixie Shootout Series ROUND #5 | HUNTSVILLE RECAP 🏁

It was long. It was hot. It definitely did not all go according to plan.

But there was a lot to be proud of when we packed up Saturday night at Huntsville Quarter Midget Association - HQMA.

JUNIOR HONDA

Our day started with Dad getting the setup wrong. We underestimated just how little grip the track would have early Saturday morning, and Maclan was handed a car that was simply far too loose to do much with.

Add a couple of on-track incidents, some repairs between races, and suddenly Mac was staring at a starting spot near the back of the B Main with only four transfer positions available.

Then things got interesting.

Starting P7 after a couple of late changes to the lineup, Mac went forward. He methodically worked his way through the field and crossed the line P3, transferring into the A Main.

That put him P9 against an incredibly fast A-Main field, and once again Mac started moving forward.

He worked his way all the way to P3 and was charging toward the leaders when a racing incident sent him into the wall. After a trip to the pits and a little “Frankenstein” front-end repair to get him back on track, the car simply was not what it had been.

The final result was P9.

That number does not tell the story.

Going from the back of the B Main, transferring into the A, and then racing from P9 to P3 against that field before the damage was one of the performances we were most proud of all weekend.

JUNIOR 160

This car was FAST from the moment it hit the track.

Mac started P3 in his heat, quickly made his way to the front and held off a hard-charging field to take the WIN. 🏆

That earned him P1 for the A Main.

The feature brought plenty of adversity of its own. A couple of incidents sent Mac to the rear, forcing him to work his way back through a talented field.

He did exactly that.

When the checkered flag flew, Mac had raced his way back to P3, watching two of our NCQMA buddies Brayden Kren Racing and Knox Davidson Racing cross the line just ahead of him in an incredible side-by-side finish.

But one of our favorite parts of Saturday happened after the helmets came off.

While technical inspections stretched on, Mac spent the downtime doing what kids at the racetrack do best, playing with friends from across the Southeast.

Those moments are easy to overlook when we talk about qualifying positions, transfers, wins and podiums.

But they are a huge part of why we travel and race where we do.

These kids compete incredibly hard against one another when the helmets go on, and then spend hours laughing, playing and making memories together when they come off.

That may be one of racing's greatest gifts.

We arrived in Huntsville with bigger goals than the final results ultimately showed. But we left incredibly proud of the way Mac competed.

A heat win.
A Junior 160 podium.
A charge from the back of a B Main into the A.
And another charge from P9 to P3 against some of the Southeast's best before circumstances changed the outcome.

There was plenty to smile about.

Next stop: home.

Labor Day weekend brings the North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA) Fall Nationals, and we are looking forward to welcoming many of these same racing families to Salisbury for another weekend together.

The competition throughout the North Carolina Quarter Midget Association (NCQMA) Summer Series was fierce, with battles going all the way down to the final race, and we are incredibly proud to see Maclan finish 2nd in the Junior Honda Summer Series Championship! 🏁

Congratulations to our good buddy Brayden Kren Racing on an awesome championship run all summer long, and to all of the incredible racers we had the privilege of competing against week after week. This series pushed everyone to be better, and Maclan learned a lot every time he climbed behind the wheel.

A result like this does not happen without a great group of people behind us. We are incredibly thankful for all of the partners who continue to believe in Maclan and MBMC Racing and help make opportunities like this possible. Your support allows us to keep showing up, keep learning, and keep chasing the next goal.

P2 in the NCQMA Junior Honda Summer Series Championship. We are proud of what Mac accomplished, and even more excited about where Maclan is headed next.

📖 “And after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire the sound of a low whisper.”
- 1 Kings 19:12

Sometimes we expect God to show Himself in unmistakable ways.

We look for the big answer. The obvious sign. The moment where everything suddenly becomes clear.

But Scripture reminds us that God does not always meet us in the way we expect.

In 1 Kings 19, Elijah experiences a powerful wind, an earthquake, and a fire. Yet the Lord was not in those things. Then came something much quieter:

A low whisper.

That passage came to mind for us after a conversation at the racetrack this past weekend.

One of the unexpected blessings of racing has been the people God has placed in our path. Between practices, races, long days at the track, and all the ordinary conversations that happen along the way, relationships form.

This weekend, a conversation with another race dad and fellow believer turned toward the different ways we have experienced God working in our lives.

For him, there have been times when that has happened through dreams.

For someone else, it may be through Scripture. Through prayer. Through the words of another person. Through an unexpected circumstance. Through an answered prayer. Through a quiet conviction that keeps returning to our heart.

The conversation reminded us that God is not confined to one part of our lives.

He is not only present on Sunday morning.

He is not only present when we intentionally sit down to pray.

He is present in our homes, our workplaces, our relationships, our struggles, our joys, and yes, even in conversations beside a racetrack.

Sometimes God may use the very places we least expect to remind us of who He is.

The challenge is whether we are paying attention.

It can be easy to become so focused on looking for the wind, the earthquake, or the fire that we miss the whisper.

That does not mean every thought, coincidence, dream, or circumstance is automatically a message from God. Scripture remains the foundation we return to as we seek His direction and discern what is true.

But it does remind us to live with our hearts open and attentive.

God can use His Word, prayer, people, circumstances, and moments we never expected to draw us closer to Him.

And sometimes, something as ordinary as a conversation with another dad at the racetrack can become a reminder that God is present in far more of our lives than we sometimes realize.

💭 This week, we invite you to join us in reflecting:

• Am I so focused on looking for a dramatic answer from God that I may be overlooking the quieter ways He is already working in my life?
• Where have I recently seen God use His Word, another person, a circumstance, or an unexpected conversation to draw me closer to Him?
• How can I become more intentional about creating space to listen for God and recognizing His presence throughout the ordinary parts of my day?

🙏 We invite you to join us in this week’s prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for being present in every part of our lives, including the moments when we may not immediately recognize You. Help us slow down enough to notice the ways You are drawing us closer to You. Give us wisdom and discernment to recognize Your truth, hearts that remain grounded in Your Word, and a willingness to listen when You speak quietly. Thank You for the people You place along our path who encourage our faith and remind us that You are always near. Help us carry our faith into every part of our lives and remain attentive to Your presence wherever we go. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

🏁 WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE AN ACCELO FACTORY PILOT?

If you follow MBMC Racing, you have probably seen us talk about Maclan being an Accelo Factory Pilot.

But what does that actually mean?

For us, it starts with something pretty simple: we want Mac representing brands whose products we genuinely believe in and use.

Every time Maclan climbs into one of his racecars, he is wearing an Accelo Racewear race suit, gloves, and shoes. For Mac, there is also something pretty cool about knowing that when he puts on that suit, he is not simply getting dressed to go racing.

He is representing something.

For our family, that matters to us.

We believe the best partnerships are built when there is an authentic connection between the people, the product, and the story being told. We don't want to recommend something simply because there is a logo on the car or suit. We want to be able to tell people why we believe in it.

That is what makes the Factory Pilot relationship with Accelo meaningful to our family.

Mac has racewear that we trust every time he straps into the car.

Accelo gets a young racer who is proud to represent their brand everywhere his racing journey takes him.

And together, we get to tell that story along the way.

🏁 DIXIE SHOOTOUT RACE WEEK 🔥

One weekend in Huntsville was preparation.

This weekend, it counts.

After spending this past weekend turning laps, working on setups, building our notebook, and finding some speed, Maclan and the MBMC Racing crew are headed right back to Huntsville for Dixie Shootout Series Round #5.

And Mac is excited about what he is bringing to the track.

Last weekend gave Maclan a Junior Honda that showed plenty of speed and a Junior 160 that found Victory Lane. More importantly, it gave us an opportunity to learn what these cars want at Huntsville before an even deeper field of talented drivers rolls through the gate this weekend.

Now we get to put those lessons to work.

Dixie weekends always bring incredible competition, and nothing will come easy. That is exactly what makes these races so much fun. Mac loves Huntsville, he is gaining confidence around this track, and he cannot wait to line up against some of the best racers in the country.

The cars are already waiting for us in Alabama. Friday morning, we will get back to work and make the final adjustments before it is time to go racing.

Different weekend.
Bigger field.
Bigger challenge.

Same goal. Bring everything we have got.

🏁 HUNTSVILLE RACE WEEKEND RECAP 🏁

We went to Huntsville Quarter Midget Association - HQMA this weekend with a pretty simple goal: learn everything we could.

No championship implications. No pressure to produce a particular result. Just an opportunity to get Maclan back on a track he loves, find some speed, build our notebook, and prepare for Dixie Shootout Series Round #5 this coming weekend.

We accomplished that, and came home with a win along the way. 🏆

JUNIOR HONDA

A strong heat race put Maclan on the pole for the A Main, and he rolled into the feature confident in both himself and the car.

That race changed quickly.

On Lap 1, Mac and our buddy Griggs got tangled up, spinning both cars and sending Mac to the rear. With nearly the entire race still ahead, Mac went back to work.

He charged through the field and worked his way back to P3, showing us exactly the kind of speed we had come to Huntsville looking for.

Unfortunately, while working on another pass, Mac and another car locked wheels and brought out another caution, once again sending him to the back for a second time. With only a handful of laps remaining and his confidence shaken a little, there simply was not enough time to climb all the way back through.

The finishing position was not what we wanted.

What we learned was.

We found speed, identified areas we can improve, and left with valuable information to carry into Dixie.

JUNIOR 160

The 160 field may have been small, but there was nothing easy about it. We were racing against fast cars and talented drivers on their home track. Exactly the kind of competition we wanted.

After some great racing in the heat, Mac earned a P2 starting position for the A Main.

When the green dropped on the A Main, he wasted no time.

Mac got a great start, came out of Turn 2 with the lead, and began putting some distance between himself and the field. A couple of cautions erased those gaps and created some hard racing on the restarts, but Mac stayed composed and continued clicking off fast laps.

When the checkered flag fell:

🏆 JUNIOR 160 — P1

A win, more speed, and another page of notes for this weekend.

We came to Huntsville looking for laps and information. We left with both, plus two strong racecars and even more confidence heading into Dixie Round #5.

But some of the best parts of the weekend had nothing to do with finishing positions.

We got to spend time with racing families we do not see nearly enough and others who have become dear friends through the countless weekends we spend together. The friendships, laughs, and memories away from the track continue to be one of racing’s greatest gifts to our family.

And a huge thank you to everyone at HQMA for allowing us to leave the trailer and cars in Huntsville this week. Not having to tow everything between North Carolina and Alabama twice in nine days is incredibly appreciated.

So, for once, the cars are staying at the racetrack while we head home. 😂

Friday morning, we will be reunited with them and get to work.

The competition gets deeper. The challenge gets bigger. And everything we learned this weekend gets put to the test.
