I will be attending this trial. Clark is entered in the derby, Johnny and Bonnie are entered in the Puppy stake. I hope to see some old friends there and maybe meet some new friends.

The Liver marked dog on the left is Kyper, aka Freeborn Man. I bought Kyper as a small puppy. I knew quickly that he was going to make a bird dog, but I didn’t realize how good he would become. I started working him and he just got better every time I worked him. He won/placed in several field trials, both foot handled and horseback handled. I really think he could have accomplished more if he wasn’t saddled with me as his owner/handler. We bred Kyper several times, I think he sired around 75, puppies. Several had field trial wins. Somehow, I didn’t end up keeping any of his pups. Our recent litter was sired by a son of Kyper, that belongs to Dale Smith. The white pup on the right is one we are keeping from this litter. The more I work these pups, the more they remind me of Kyper.

Things do not always go well. My vehicle tried to drive off without me when I go out. I think the pups broke a little early to keep from getting ran over. LOL

The cover is high and green and it can be hard to see the dogs. I knew where this bird was at, but the last time I saw Bonnie, she was deep to my right. I slowed way down to let her catch up. Little did I know, she was already standing this bird. I’m not sure how long she was there when I rode in and found her. Johnny came on in and pointed also. They are looking good for 7, months old.

I took this while I was mowing. I moved Quail into the johnny house in very hot weather! I haven’t lost any and I will start using them in the next few days.

I put Quail in the Johnny House. I did not anticipate doing it on the hottest day of the year. I left the area around the funnel open for a little extra air. I also put a cold pack in there. I have some frozen water bottles to rotate in as well. It is supposed to start cooling down after today.
