When you set out to build a team based on building the best young ladies you possibly can it has its moments that can make you doubt what you’re doing or why you’re doing it. It’s not easy. There are so many highs and lows sometimes it can get confusing which part of the wave you’re experiencing on any given day. Sometimes there are days when everything aligns and you really get to see what these young ladies are capable of. Those are the days you understand why. Those are the days that keep the fire alive to come back again and again even when it’s tough. Coaching this team of amazing young ladies has been an amazing journey to say the least. That journey isn’t over and I consider it a massive privilege to do it again each season. We had a phenomenal day and the girls showed more grit and determination than anyone could have ever asked for. We played hard and fought through some tough competition to end up in the championship game against another amazing team of great young ladies, coaches and parents. We ended the day runner up in gold and brought home one last ring to finish up the spring season. Yes, we brought home a ring. But that’s not what they were playing for. They played for each other. They played for the team. Win or loose those girls were going to fight hard to the end. That is exactly what they did. Our journey with a few came to an end last night, we ended the night with tons of smiles and pictures to celebrate our wins. We are proud of that for sure. But the moments I’m most proud of came after all that. The kind words, hugs, tears and goodbyes for those that age up and move on to continue their journey elsewhere. Those moments when you really start to see how much these girls have grown to love each other and genuinely care for each other. The part when you realize you can be competitive and still not waver on your dedication to BUILD GOOD PEOPLE. The good athlete component is an added bonus. This season was special. Yes, we had issues like any other team. Yes, we won a lot of ballgames. Yes, we lost some ballgames. Having a front row seat in the dugout to watch these girls lift each other up and support each other when it’s hard and the days get long, that’s special. That’s why we do what we do. To say that I’m proud is an absolute understatement. Blessed to be a part of what we do is a much better description. To those that move on we’re still pulling for every one of you. Who knows maybe we will be in the dugout together again down the road. Fall season will be here soon Ladies! Let’s go to work and come back stronger!
Love ya, Bye.
