Coach Brent Matheny is proud to lead the Midwest Marlins 11U team this season. Brent developed a love for baseball at an early age by watching his older brother progress from college baseball to the Major Leagues and later become a Major League manager. That passion inspired Brent to play catcher from a young age and through his baseball career at Reynoldsburg High School. Over the past six seasons, he has coached his son's teams and developed a passion for helping young athletes grow both on and off the field. Brent's coaching philosophy emphasizes strong fundamentals, teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and a competitive mindset while ensuring players develop a lifelong love for the game. He is committed to creating a positive environment where every player is challenged to improve, compete with integrity, and reach their full potential. Brent looks forward to partnering with players and families to make this a rewarding and successful season for the Midwest Marlins.

Midwest Marlins are excited to announce Head Coach Madison Thimmes of our 16U Softball team.

Coach Madison is a former NCAA athlete with over 14 years of softball experience, including four years as a collegiate player at Glenville State University. She trained under Mark Blaczyk, a respected pitching coach and former professional player, gaining not only advanced pitching knowledge but also a strong foundation in coaching and player development.

Madison is passionate about helping young athletes grow both on and off the field. Her goal is to guide girls through every stage of their softball journey—building confidence, skill, and a love for the game. She is committed to developing strong, empowered players who are prepared to succeed in softball and beyond.
