This video applies to volley serves in pickleball. Yes the drop serve is allowed under the USAP rulebook where you can bounce it and it eliminates a lot of the other variables but I stopped drop serving in my first month of playing pickleball as I found the volley serve to be more accurate and effective when placing your serve.

Drop serves are allowed in the USAP rulebook but not in UPA-A matches. But both apply the same rules to the volley serve.

Keep them guessing. Being unpredictable is leverage when it comes to getting the ball in play, keep your opponents on their toes with your pickleball serve.

4 tips on adding top spin to your shots in

1. paddle tip low pointing down
2. Brush upwards under the ball
3. Push forward as you brush up
4. Keep a wide stance and get low

By brushing up on the ball with a wide and low stance, when you get up under the ball you get the proper lift you need to not hit the ball into the net.

The act of pushing the ball forward when you brush up on the ball keeps you from popping it up to high and propels the ball forward. The mix of all of the above gets you cleaner faster shots that take time away from your opponents.
