From a tough mental spot at Maverick City to finding my footing at Tulsa Tough.
Sometimes the smartest career move is dropping down a field to aggressively target your weaknesses. For me, that meant turning a terrifying, torrential rain crit into a masterclass in bike handling.
Read how I overcame the mental excuses and found the rhythm again.

🚴 New Blog Post!🔥
Maverick City Crits humbled me. A tough weekend on the bike left me replaying my failures on a loop the entire drive home.
As a coach, I have all the answers for others. As an athlete, I had to learn to give those same objective answers to myself this week.

Day 1 at the Maverick City Criterium in Norman, Oklahoma 🇺🇸🚴♂️
Not every race goes according to plan.
Saturday was one of those days where I knew exactly what I needed to do, but I didn't execute as well as I wanted. I gave up a little too much speed in the corners, lost some valuable positioning, and paid the price for it.
The heat was relentless, the pace was hard, and eventually I found myself off the back riding a solo time trial to the finish. The easy thing would have been to stop.
But my son was there watching.
And if there's one thing I want him to remember, it's that his dad doesn't quit. 💪
Last year I crashed on this course. This year I stayed upright and handled the technical section better than ever. That's progress.
Saturday was another opportunity to learn, improve, and race smarter.
We reset. We recover. And to the next one. 🔥

The truth?
Most athletes don’t need more information.
They need action.
Modern cycling is filled with data, opinions, podcasts, and “perfect” training methods. But progress doesn’t come from endlessly searching.
It comes from doing.
my new blog dives into:
• Doers vs. non-doers
• Why consistency matters more than perfection
• The balance between science and art in coaching
• What actually creates long-term improvement
New article is now live.
