The Rotary Club of Mesa is the main support for the Scarface Mountain Trail Run planning, organization, running, and volunteers. They meet most Wednesdays for lunch, and get to hear from great people and organizations.
Last week we heard from Maricopa County Parks Park Ranger Jacque Vallejos, and it was a great presentation, where we learned how cute snakes are. We love the Maricopa County Parks, and have a bias for Usery Mountain Regional Park, Mesa.
Check out Rotary Club of Mesa fb page, give them a follow, and maybe even come out to a meeting as a guest!
Meet Ranger Jacque !
No, she’s not a Rotarian, but she’s a cool lady with tons of Park Knowledge. Kinda like Leslie Knope, but much cooler !
She dropped tons of knowledge on us about the parks in Maricopa County, the animals , the programs and more!

You get a taste of the trails at Usery Mountain Regional Park when you run the Scarface Mountain Trail Run, but there is so much more! This picture is still inside the park, but did you know that the park borders Tonto National Forest and connect to even more trails?
Talon is one of the newer trails inside the park, and it is a favorite. A portion of it joins Pass Mountain Trail.

100% of all race registration fees go straight to charity. One of those charities is the Charitable Foundation of the Rotary Club of Mesa.
The foundation donates to many charities and supports community service projects. Today the foundation donated $4,150 to the United Food Banks Summer of a Million Meals telethon.
We are so grateful for everyone involved in the race, to include everyone who signs up, and runs! Thank you for supporting us in our great causes!

What do stagecoach robbers, hidden silver, and trail running have in common?
The legend of King Usery and Henry Blevins tells of an Old West stagecoach robbery, where silver bars were stolen and hidden somewhere out in these Usery Mountain trails. Whether every detail is legend or history, the story has become part of the rich heritage of the area—and at the Scarface Mountain Trail Run, you get to be part of the adventure!
🏃♂️ 100% of race proceeds go to charity.
But the fun doesn’t stop at the finish line:
🪙 Find a hidden “lost silver bar” along the course and return it to claim a prize!
🤠 Dress in your best Old West or outlaw costume for a chance to win another prize!
🏆 Overall winners of the 20K, 10K, and 5K will each take home a prize as well.
Challenge yourself on some of Arizona’s most beautiful desert trails while supporting great causes and experiencing a little piece of Wild West history.
🎟️ Sign up today and come see if you can outrun the outlaws… or find their lost treasure!

🌄 Recognize this view?
If you ran the 10K at the 2026 Scarface Mountain Trail Run, you’ve earned this sunrise.
This is the view from Cat Peaks Pass—a climb that greeted runners right at the start of the final mile. It wasn’t easy, but reaching the top rewarded you with one of the most breathtaking views in Usery Mountain Regional Park. The Scarface Mountain Trail Run is known for combining challenging desert trails with unforgettable scenery while raising money for charity.
💪 So… are you coming back for another shot?
🏃 The 10K gives you this climb once.
🔥 The 20K? You get second helpings. Twice the challenge. Twice the reward. Twice the sunrise views.
Whether you’re chasing a PR, conquering a new distance, or just looking for an unforgettable trail running experience, we’d love to see you on the starting line.
