The future! As just a sophomore Braden Pickett (Pearl) has been named Mississippi Gatorade Track and Field Athlete of the Year!

The future is bright!

OPINION: If your high school leadership (coaches and administrators) isn’t put together, kids are going to transfer. That’s reality at this point. There is no fear to pick up and move. Football and other sports are too important to people. Families will do what they think is best for them.

I don’t even blame families, if there is a better situation I’m taking my kid and leaving. It’s not about school pride if you feel like you aren’t getting what you deserve. This isn’t about right or wrong, but how someone feels. There would be more transfer if more people had the ability to move…trust me!

Not everyone’s goal is to be a straight “A student! Some want to get a JUCO football scholarship. Again, right or wrong that isn’t your choice, it’s theirs.

This isn’t me defending or saying it’s ok. I have no side because it’s not my life, it’s theirs. This is just reality of the current state of sports.
