Each year during the legislative session, firefighters from across Tennessee visit Nashville. I was honored to spend time with two members of the Jackson Fire Department and thank them for their dedication, courage, and service to our community.

I am proud to support the brave men and women who answer the call every day. Thank you for all you do to protect and serve West Tennessee.

Great job United Firefighters of Karns IAFF Local 4900!

Today marks a historic day for the firefighters of Karns.
Our members voted to be represented by IAFF Local 4900, a milestone decades in the making for this department. This wasn't a vote against anyone. It was a vote for a real seat at the table, for consistency, and for a formal voice in the decisions that affect our work and this community we serve.

We're proud of our members who showed up, asked hard questions, and made this decision together. And we're looking forward to sitting down with the department to build something that's good for our firefighters and good for Karns for years to come.

Thank you to everyone who supported us along the way, our members, our families, Knoxville Local 65, the 14th district, and the International Association of Fire Fighters. We couldn't have pulled this off without the resounding support from all of you.

This is just the beginning.

Tennessee has lost one of its greatest treasures.

Dolly Parton’s legacy reaches far beyond the music that made her an icon. Her generosity, compassion, and love for the people of Tennessee have touched countless lives from putting books in the hands of children through the Imagination Library to stepping up time and again when her neighbors and communities needed help.

Dolly never forgot where she came from, and she spent a lifetime giving back to the state she proudly called home.

The Tennessee Professional Fire Fighters Association joins Tennesseans everywhere in mourning her passing and extending our deepest condolences to the Parton family and all those whose lives she touched.

Her music will live on, but so will the incredible legacy of kindness and generosity she leaves behind.

Rest easy, Dolly. Tennessee will never forget you.

The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) has conducted extensive research on PFAS and the serious health risks these “forever chemicals” pose to firefighters, including potential exposure through turnout gear. Firefighters already face an elevated risk of certain cancers because of the exposures they encounter throughout their careers. Fire departments across this country should be moving away from gear containing PFAS as safer, effective alternatives become available. The gear we rely on to protect firefighters should never be contributing to the very health risks we’re fighting to reduce.

The Tennessee Professional Fire Fighters Association would like to Congratulate Chad Major on being elected at the 58th IAFF convention in Arlington, Texas as the New International Association of Fire Fighters District 14 Vice President. Chad will take over officially at the end of September following the official retirement of long serving DVP Danny Todd.

District 14 represents : Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi,Arkansas, Alabama 

Election Day was a strong night for TPFFA-endorsed candidates across Tennessee but endorsements are about much more than winning elections.

The TPFFA endorsement process is about giving Tennessee’s Professional Fire Fighters a voice in the decisions that affect our profession, our families, and the communities we protect.

We support candidates who will listen to fire fighters and work with us on the issues that matter: staffing, retirement security, cancer and mental health protections, fair working conditions, and legislation that keeps fire fighters and the public safe.

Our members show up when Tennessee needs us. We believe it matters who shows up for us when decisions are being made at the capitols in Nashville and DC.

Congratulations to our endorsed candidates, and thank you to the TPFFA local leaders and members across Tennessee who worked to make their voices heard.
