Ya know, I’m often telling people to do the thing scared of, take the next step before they feel completely certain, or do one thing every day that pushes them outside their comfort zone.

Turns out, that advice applies to me too. 😂

At today’s Social Scoop, my biggest takeaway was simple: stop overthinking it and just post. So here I am, posting the video instead of overthinking!

I think we all need those moments when someone gives us a little push to do the thing we already know we need to do. Growth doesn’t usually happen when we feel completely ready. It happens when we’re willing to get a little uncomfortable and do it anyway.

Thank you, Aimee Deimerly-Snyder and Marshalltown Area Chamber of Commerce, for bringing this group together, and to everyone who shared ideas, encouragement, and a few good laughs today!

Now, what are you going to do before you feel completely ready?

Registration closes Friday, September 25.

Promoting someone doesn't automatically make them a leader. New supervisors are expected to motivate teams, navigate hard conversations, and manage performance — often with zero formal training to back it up.

The Buddy to Boss Leadership Series gives first-time leaders real tools before small challenges become costly ones. Four Tuesday sessions (Oct 6–27, 8–10 a.m.) covering communication, confidentiality, feedback, and confidence-building — led by certified coach Brittany Titcomb.

98% of past participants said they'd recommend the training. Seats are capped at 35.

I officially earned my PCC (Professional Certified Coach) credential through the International Coaching Federation. 🎉

So what does that actually mean? It means 600+ hours of coaching, continuing education, mentoring, evaluation, and one nerve-wracking exam that makes you question everything!

Those 600+ coaching hours have been filled with conversations about what comes next. New leaders figuring out how to trust themselves in a role they are still growing into. People making career changes or trying to figure out what they want to be when they grow up. Experienced leaders working through hard conversations, big decisions, and the challenges that come with leading people.

And the best part of it all has been watching people go from second-guessing themselves to trusting themselves and knowing what they need to do to move forward. That continual growth is what I love most about this work.

Getting to watch someone step more fully into who they are, what they are capable of, and what they are truly meant to do is pretty hard to beat.

The PCC letters are pretty cool. Knowing that those 600+ hours helped people step more fully into who they were meant to be is even cooler.

And I am pretty excited for the conversations still ahead!

That’s exactly what From Buddy to Boss is built for.

You know that moment when something happens, and your reaction is already halfway out before your brain catches up?

That was the conversation I got to bring to the SPARK stage during Respond, Don’t React.

Because responding instead of reacting does not mean we never get frustrated, overwhelmed, or caught off guard.

It means noticing what is happening, creating a little space, and choosing what we want to do next.

I’m grateful I had the opportunity to be part of SPARK and share the stage with such a great group of speakers.

Trust. I don’t know about you, but when I hear that word, a lot comes up.

How trust is earned. How it’s lost. Who has it. Who doesn’t. Where it’s been built, and where it’s been broken. All the things.

Something I’ve been thinking about a lot this year is a different kind of trust: self-trust.

The belief that you can handle what comes along. That you can take the next step, even when you don’t have the whole path figured out yet.

And that one has been big for me.

Because I love a plan. I like feeling prepared. I like knowing where I’m going before I start. And self-trust doesn’t always mean having all the answers.

Self-trust means saying, “I don’t know the whole plan yet, but I know the next right step. And I can take that.”

Even if it’s not perfect.
Even if I still have doubts.
Even if I don’t have the 101-step plan already mapped out.

Just enough trust in myself to begin.

I think a lot of us are waiting for certainty when what we really need is self-trust.
To say the thing. To make the change. To have the conversation. To try something new. To take the next step before we feel completely ready.

Because trust isn’t only something we build with other people.
It’s something we have to keep building with ourselves, too.

I spent the past two days at the Women Lead Change conference, and one thing that stood out to me through conversations, observations, and even my own interactions is this:

More than anything, people want to feel seen.

Yes, the conversations mattered.
Yes, the networking mattered.
Yes, the opportunities mattered.

But underneath all of that, there was something even more human.
A need for real connection.

Not connection through the lens of what can you do for me.
Not from a place of what do they want from me.
Not relationships built only around opportunity.
Just two humans, being human.

A smile when you pass someone.
Eye contact.
A simple hello.
Taking a moment to really listen instead of thinking about what comes next.

Those little things matter more than we think.
Because at the end of the day, people may not remember every word you said, but they will remember how they felt around you.

Did they feel welcomed?
Did they feel noticed?
Did they feel like they mattered?

Sometimes networking can feel transactional.

But real connection is built in the small moments where people feel seen, heard, and valued.

In a world full of networking, be the person who makes people feel seen.
