Hotter weather means warmer swimming pool temps.
If your pool is consistently over 90°, consider:
• Running the pump overnight.
• Do not use the solar cover.
• Adding an aerator or using deck jets in the evening.
• Installing a pool chiller if extremely warm water is common.
For Mansfield, where we have 100–105° air temperatures for days at a time, a pool temperature of 90–94° isn't unusual. The biggest maintenance difference isn't the temperature itself. It's that you need to stay ahead of chlorine demand. Most midsummer algae outbreaks start because sanitizer levels fall behind while the water is essentially acting like a warm incubator.
A simple rule of thumb: The hotter the water, the less forgiving your pool becomes. Keeping chlorine consistently in range and maintaining good circulation are far more important at 92° than they are at 75°.
