The first time I ever ran with purpose... I was a little girl trying to help save my mother’s life.
I never imagined that decades later, running would become one of the greatest sources of healing, gratitude, and joy in my life.
Funny how life works.
Sometimes the very thing connected to your deepest pain becomes the path that leads you home.
Day 99 Training 4 Our WEDDING is complete.
Today, I ran toward choice.
💛🏃🏾♀️
Happy MANIFEST It Monday.
What saved your life?
Running has saved me then and now.
I walked away from a toxic + verbally abusive relationship in Orlando and caught a flight to Maryland.
EVERYTHING I owned fit into a red, cheap 3-piece luggage set and a few boxes. At midlife, my entire world was contained inside my sister’s sewing room in Bowie, MD.
For 5 months, that room was my restart.
On Valentine’s Day:2018, I began driving a Lyft in DC as my ONLY Plan. There was No Plan.A-B or C. 🚕
My friend of 20 years, Sekou, refused to let me stay down. He was in my ear daily: Focus on your fitness, reclaim your body, and let's get you into your own place within 6 months.
I listened to him. . In less then 6- months, I packed up my sewing-room life and moved into a beautiful 2-bedroom apartment in the historical neighborhood of Reservoir Hill in Baltimore.
My first month there, the isolation hit heavy. 💔
I was working 7 days a week, up to 10 hours a day.
Insurmountable camera light tickets were piling up. There were moments I truly didn't want to live anymore.
I would pull over and take naps in East Potomac Park just to survive the exhaustion. No social life. No dating. Just work, workouts, prayer, and meditation.
It was lonely, but it was cathartic. I chose radical forgiveness and took 100% responsibility for my life choices. I was healing.
Then COVID-19 hit. Sekou and I joined a WhatsApp group with our friend Korby Marks and out of nowhere... a new type of attraction entered the room. 👀
I resisted it so hard. I told myself, "I cannot risk losing Sekou as my friend. He’s been my safe place to land for 20 years."
I was so wrong. My soulmate had been right under my nose the entire time.
We transitioned into a beautiful, long-distance relationship. Until a sudden phone call changed everything. 📞
Sekou had a stroke. And the heaviest part? I realized I hadn't even told him that I loved him yet. 😭
In an instant, everything shifted. True love requires True friendship. You realize what actually matters.
He survived that small/silent stroke, and then a second BIG ( hemorrhaging) one. Running didn’t just become a fitness goals—it saved his life, and it gave us OUR purpose.
Now-We run these NYC streetz daily. We aren’t just training for a wedding day... we are building the endurance, stamina, and faith needed for a marriage. 💍Needed to run for Love for Our Country-Our Community-Our Culture and to shine a Spotlight on Stroke Awareness.
“If you’re still holding out for a love that doesn’t just choose you, but actively runs through the healing and the hard days with you... why settle for less?”
Day 50/50. Not even close to the end of our 409vowrun training, yet WE’RE fully locked into the vision.
Today’s run took us through the vibrant chaos of the Hell’s Kitchen Food Festival.
This journey is for the Black men fighting for their health and showing up daily. It’s for the Black and Brown women holding out for a partner who matches their pace and guards their heart. Survival is beautiful, but thriving together is the real blessing.
The countdown to our wedding is on, and the pavement knows our name.

How are you moving your body today?
Today is DAY 49 of our Training 4 Our WEDDING And Our MARRIAGE!
This journey just hit a beautiful new milestone.
Today was all about connection and hitting my 3rd major training goal: running the Bay in Jersey City, Jersey.
The day started with purpose. I dropped off my DIY tassel earrings crafted by the talented young girls (ages 8-11) from the ‘Yes Girls Create’ non-profit collab. Delivering these gorgeous tassels to the incredible team at Women Rise domestic violence support organization, was a Dream come true. Bridging creativity, youth empowerment, and women’s InPowerment is exactly the kind of love we want to anchor our marriage in.
From that powerful space, the run began. I used that location as my launching pad, charting a course straight to the Jersey City Hudson River waterway.
It’s NEVER about speed; but Consistency and Endurance. It was a slow run. On pace. Just collecting my thoughts, listening to the steady beat of my heart, and feeling immense gratitude for every step of this journey to 20 miles run daily.
Where is Your ‘YES’ leading you to? WHO is your ‘Yes’ leading you to?

Have you ever ran or worked out for so long-that you trained the Black up off of you?
I know; right! That’s what happened to us today
We’re on Day 40 of Training 4 Our WEDDING.
Sekou put in 30 miles. I put in 15 miles and we’re now white people.
We’re still going to get married. It’s just going to be a different kind of wedding
Keep rocking with us fam
EVERYTIME I see a video on social media, the news, of a woman being terrorized! Threatened, attempt at a kidnapping or even verbally assaulted-I am both:
Angry
Saddened
I’m now DOING something about it.
I’ve put together a ‘Kick-Ass-Make-It-Home’ Self-Defense Workshop!
A year ago, I was walking in NYC… and a man shoved me into a wall.
I wasn’t hurt— but I realized something:
I didn’t actually know what I would do if things escalated.
So I created what I couldn’t find.
Kick Ass & Make It Home A real, hands-on self-defense workshop in Brooklyn with expert John Brancato.
If you’ve ever thought, “I should know what to do if I’m faced with trouble…”
This is for you.
This isn’t about FEAR! It’s about being prepared and not having to guess anymore.

Can a bag of coffee beans actually make you cry?
Would you believe me if I told you that I hadn’t purchased my first bag of coffee beans 4 myself until 55?
Buying my first-ever bag of coffee yesterday was surprisingly emotional. It represents a massive shift.
I’m trading my daily café visits for home-brewed espresso to fund my wedding and my future. It’s a “Level Up” moment that feels both exciting and a little bit lonely.
But! I still get to support my local coffee shops and pour into my fave baristas.
• But then there’s Derrick. One of My favorite baristas saw me through the transition, grinding my beans and teaching me the ropes with so much kindness. It reminded me that even when we change our habits to reach our financial goals, the friendships we’ve built stay with us.
• NYC is tough, but we are tougher when we support each other’s growth. Cheers to new chapters and perfectly extracted shots.
BTW! Check out Le Cafe Coffee in Hells Kitchen.
Camilla, Evelyn, Danielle, Martin, Fernando and Michael are The Absolute BEST!

My FIRST Time Running in Jersey City,
The Jersey City Rain Run 🏃♀️🌧️
Do you remember what it feels like to move your body just because it feels good, rather than because you ‘have’ to?
On Day 37 of training for my wedding, this run reminded me of a vital truth: Movement is not a punishment for what you ate; it is a celebration of what you can do.
For those of us over 40, we often get caught in the “routine” of life. We forget that we are allowed to be spontaneous, to get a little wet, and to find peace in the middle of a sprint. Living an active life should be our “normal,” not a line item on a to-do list.
Whether it’s a dash to the subway or a planned 5K, let’s reclaim the joy of moving.
What is one way you’re WILLING to incorporate a “magical” burst of movement into your day today?
