We are right in the middle of cross country season! This sport builds toughness unlike any other sport and that is what makes us so proud of our XC athletes! It would be easy to quit, but we don’t. They show up every morning to run, not for themselves but for each other!

Cross Country kids are different.

They just are.

In a sport that is one of if not the most physically demanding, these kids don’t do it for the hype.

There is very little hype . Maybe a token pep rally or a hand made sign in the hallway. Maybe someone asking “how did you do today”

They don’t do it for the popularity.

Someone may ask who the starting quarterback is going to be this year. Very rarely who the best runner is going to be. Even more seldom, who is your middle of the pack runner?

A lot of the time these kids are the ones that need somewhere to fit in. And someone to fit in with.

They show up before the sun and run.

A lot.

They work hard all week… and their reward?

More running.

These kids do as a sport what other sports do for punishment.

But make no mistake…these kids are some of the toughest most selfless people you will ever meet.

They cheer each other on in practice. They stand by the course and cheer each other on during the race. They struggle together and build a bond through that struggle.

If one of them has a bad race? You’ll hear a teammate pepping them up.

One PR’s (even if they don’t place) and you’ll hear a teammate celebrating them.

One stumbles at the finish line… you can bet a teammate will be there holding them up.

Some never get a medal, or a write up. Or an accolade, or anything other than self fulfillment out of their sport.

They just run. And they’ll show up tomorrow and do it again.

Because it’s not about the awards… it’s who they are.

What a day for the Yellowjackets! Our 5x State Champs Sr Girls came away with 2nd place in the 1A-4A division at the Shiloh Saints Invitational! What a way to kick off XC season. We had 3 runners place this morning.

3 of our runners medaled today:

Mesa Villines — 5th, 23:08 (Sr High Girls)
Leelou Kilbourn — 7th, 23:13 (Sr High Girls)
Legacy Welsh — 13th, 15:54 (Jr Girls)

Our jr boys ran tough and left everything out there! this group keeps getting better every week.

Also want to give a shoutout to our 10 seventh graders who lined up for their very first meet today. Running your first race is intimidating no matter who you are, and every one of them showed up ready to compete anyway. That’s the kind of toughness that maintains a program and translates to everything you do in life.

So proud of every kid who competed today. Our next meet will be at NAC on Tuesday, September 1st. Go Jackets!🔵🟡

6:30 AM. Three mornings a week. It’s not easy… but we do it anyways.

While most people are still sleeping, our girls are showing up. They’re putting in the work, building the habits, and choosing to get better, even when no one is watching. Their determination and willingness to get up when it’s easy to stay in bed, get out the door and run says so much about who they are becoming.

Our Senior High team has been reading “Win in the Dark” and Junior High team has been reading “The Energy Bus”

Win in the Dark reminds us that the work done when nobody is watching is what prepares us to shine when the lights come on. The Energy Bus reminds us that the energy we bring, the attitude we choose, and the people we surround ourselves with can change the entire journey.

These girls are learning both lessons every morning at 6:30. They’re winning in the dark, bringing the energy, and maintaining our championship culture together that the ones before us have created.

Proud doesn’t even begin to describe how we feel about these girls and the effort they put in. Go Jackets!🔵🟡

First day of school means a fresh start and for our basketball family, it means the beginning of a new chapter.

New teammates. New friendships. New challenges. New opportunities.

Every season brings something different, and we won’t know everything this year will challenge us with. But we do know this: we’ll face it together.

We’ll learn. We’ll grow. We’ll be challenged. We’ll overcome. And through it all, we’ll build something special. One day, one practice, and one game at a time. Here is to the start of a brand new school year. Basketball season will be right around the corner! Go Jackets!🔵🟡

Yellowjackets P*eWee camp is officially a wrap! We had a blast for 3 straight days with so much improvement from every kid that came. We appreciate everyone for coming and want to give a special thank you to Coach Lane, Travis Huber, Mrs. Fitchpatrick, Brett Fitchpatrick, Coach Taylor and all of our high school athletes who volunteered their time to make this an unforgettable camp for everyone involved! We cannot wait to see everyone back next summer. Go Jackets!🔵🟡
