Another championship weekend for the WTX Canes 2036 squad. 🏆
5-0 on the weekend, but what I'm most proud of wasn't the record , it was how these girls responded when things got tough when playing lazy. The championship game brought adversity, momentum shifted, and for the first time all weekend they had to dig deep. They stayed together, trusted each other, and found a way to finish.
What's even crazier is this team didn't exist until late March.
Out of this entire roster, only two girls 🤪were part of last year's team. Everyone else is new to the program. We weren't just putting a team together, we were building chemistry, teaching a system, and creating a culture from scratch.
Fast forward a few months, and they're playing for each other. They're celebrating each other's success, encouraging one another through mistakes, and beginning to understand what being a teammate really means.
People see another championship. I see a group of girls who have completely bought in.
I see players who have grown in confidence, learned to trust the extra pass, embraced defense, and discovered that winning comes from doing the little things over and over again.
We've had a great start, but we're not satisfied. Every tournament teaches us something, and this weekend reminded us that there are still details to clean up before OKC. That's exciting, because this group's ceiling is still much higher than where we are today.
We're not chasing perfect—we're chasing progress. The championships are a result of the work, not the goal.
WTX Canes 2036 is still writing its story... and we're just getting started. 💪🏾🩷🏀

Man, what a weekend for the WTX Canes 2035/2036.🫡
2036 Canes went out and handled business, going undefeated and bringing home two championships while playing against boys all weekend. A perfect 6-0 🏆 Their confidence keeps growing, and it's showing every time they step on the floor.
2035 Canes didn't have the start we wanted, dropping a close game right out of the gate. But what impressed me most was how they responded. No excuses. No hanging their heads. They got back to work and showed exactly who they are the rest of the weekend. When they play fast, play together, and play hard, they're a tough matchup for anybody. They finished 4-2 and brought home 2nd place.🥈😤
As coaches, weekends like this aren't just about the trophies. It's about seeing the growth. Seeing girls who were once scared to make a mistake now playing with confidence. Seeing teammates trust each other. Seeing all those hours in the gym start to pay off.💪🏾
Huge thank you to all of our parents. We ask a lot of these families from practices, tournaments, travel, fundraising, and everything in between. None of this happens without your support.🫶🏾
Also, a big thank you to Coach Dustin Hill for stepping up this weekend. He challenged the girls, held them accountable, and gave them exactly what they needed.
We aren't where we want to be yet, but we're a lot closer than we were yesterday.
