How often do we say:
“I just need to get through this week… this season… this quarter... this stage of life.”
Lately, I’ve been reminded how quickly time moves and how easy it is to wish parts of our lives away.
This Coach EM Gem is a reminder to slow down, be present, and find the gift in the season you are in - even the difficult ones.

Many people are interested in service – but how many people are truly committed to it?
That’s one of the powerful themes from my conversation with Jaquie Scammell on The Coaching Podcast. 🎙️
Three lines that stayed with me:
“Interested people talk about it. Committed people do the reps.”
“Big wins start with small disciplines.”
“Rare is premium.”
This episode is a masterclass in leadership, human connection, feedback, mindset, and what it takes to stay deeply human in a fast-moving world.
If you lead people, coach people, serve people, or simply want to perform at a higher level, this one will make you think.

Two lessons from the French Open that apply far beyond tennis.
1. Let gravity do the work. Stop forcing every outcome and trust the process.
2. The power of the pause. Sometimes 90 seconds can be the difference between reacting and responding.
These are just two of the ideas I share in this month’s Coach EM M Vlog, along with practical coaching tools to help break down silos and build stronger team collaboration.

Everything starts in the mind.
In Episode #219 of The Coaching Podcast, I sit down with Jaquie Scammell (CEO & Founder of ServiceQ) for a powerful conversation about perspective, presence, leadership, and what it takes to stay deeply human in a fast-moving world.
We explore:
• The difference between being interested vs committed
• Why feedback is one of the greatest gifts you can give a human being
• How leaders create the conditions for people to thrive
• The importance of rest, reset, recovery, and self-awareness
• Why “service” is ultimately about leaving people better than you found them
This one is filled with practical tools, mindset shifts, and leadership wisdom that applies across sport, business, and life.

Grounded in Charlotte, North Carolina … and saying I was “grounded” was an understatement.
The people, the Melbourne-style flat whites (thank you Ryan Khalil from Backyard Brew) and lattes, and the conversations all seemed to center around one powerful question:
“What would it take if …” (Thanks Terry Dunn)
Day 1: Goodwill Industries International Opportunity Campus - amazing learning environment all centered around this tagline:
“See possibilities. Seize opportunities. Prosper.”
Thanks to Vistage Chair, Tom Grogan, with SB 02284, and hosted by Doug Aitken, President of Prestige Motorsports.
Day 2: JAMES RIVER EQUIPMENT CO - another great training center for the KEY group 9203 - thanks to Vistage chair, Terry Dunn, and hosted by Kyle Cohoon.
Day 3: At the stunning Quail Hollow Club with Vistage chair Will Byron and his CE 98 group. Hosted by Donnie Shrum, the President from Fastener Supply Company.
Thank you, Vistage Worldwide, Inc. for the conversations, curiosity, energy, and commitment to helping leaders grow through coaching.

Your values shape your culture.
Your behaviours reveal it.
Loved working with the CIMET India team during their “AS ONE” company event, focused on bringing their values from the wall to the floor.
We used a simple reflection framework inspired by cricket to spark deeper conversations around behavior, learning, and how to wonder.

Yes, it’s true. I’m a former high-performance tennis coach TURNED corporate coach!
And when I say “high-performance,” I don’t throw that language around lightly. I completed the Level 1, 2, and 3 coaching qualifications, worked on the pro tour, and spent years immersed in elite environments where details, pressure, and people mattered deeply.
One of the things I cherish most about Chapter 1 of my life in tennis is the community. The relationships are special, lasting, and often pick up exactly where they left off.
This week, I simply sent a last-minute message to Gordon Reid, National Tennis Manager at Life Time Healthy Way of Life, and we reconnected like it was yesterday.
It had been 9 years since I delivered a keynote for more than 500 tennis ladies at the Life Time luncheon, encouraging them to pay attention to their inner voice and reframe unforced errors through the power of “NEXT time.” Still a message I reinforce today in leadership and life.
Because whether in sport or business, one mistake does not define you. What matters is what happens NEXT.
The moral of the story?
People may forget your name, but they will never forget how you made them feel. Take care of your relationships.
Thank you to my tennis community of friends, especially in Minneapolis.
PS. The second photo was taken one hour before my keynote. Know your ENVIRONMENT. Know your audience. Visualize what you want to happen. That was the preparation I did for this one, and the result? One of my favourite keynotes because of the collaboration and energy in the room. It’s a dance. One to remember.
