One of the reasons rejection hurts so much is because we often make it mean something about who we are.
But rejection is information not identity. It reflects timing, chemistry, and someone else’s vision, needs, or circumstances. All things that are out of your control.
The challenge isn’t convincing yourself that rejection doesn’t hurt. The challenge is learning not to confuse rejection with your worth.

Audition rejection can trigger identity-level responses, especially for actors whose work is deeply personal.
Sometimes, what your nervous system is reacting to isn’t the note, it’s everything the note represents.
Feedback can land in places that have nothing to do with the work itself. It can touch old narratives about not being enough or needing to prove yourself. Not everything that feels personal actually is.
This blog breaks down why and how to cope without losing yourself in the process.

Growing Pains isn’t just the name of an amazing late 80’s early 90’s sitcom it’s also a true description of the realities of change.

Rejection doesn’t just live in your thoughts it lives in your body.
Slowing your breath and grounding yourself helps your nervous system process the experience instead of holding onto it.
Burnout often shows up as anxiety, pressure, or disconnection before auditions.
Grounding your body first allows your performance to come from a regulated, present place not survival mode.
