DESIGN FIRM Sarah has been a globetrotter since birth. Her worldly experiences have colored their way into her design philosophy.
As a military brat, she lived all over the world during her youth and continues to explore every inch of it as an adult. Sarah earned a BS, MS, and PhD in the neurosciences (Molecular, Cellular, Integrative Physiology) from UCLA. Following her career in the sciences and important life experiences, Sarah sought new perspective and priorities for her career. With a desire to bridge her passion for t
he arts with her inner creativity, she decided to pursue studies in fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles. While there, she fell in love with fashion illustrations and interior design. One interior design course at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) was enough to move her into that direction at Parsons, The New School for Design, New York. Sarah has worked on A-List celebrity homes, international interior design projects, and won various accolades and contests in art and design including the “Design the Perfect Little Black Dress” contest by Laundry by Shelli Segal (Perry Ellis, Intl). Her dress will be available in stores as a part of the Spring 2011 collection of Laundry by Shelli Segal. Sarah gives back to her community by running marathons to raise funds and awareness for Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and their research. She also dedicates her free time to Habitat for Humanity International where she first learned to build homes from sustainable materials such as bamboo in Pokhara, Nepal. Sharing her birthday with international Earth Day, Sarah is committed to practicing the use of sustainable materials in her design aesthetic to engage in the “green” movement of recycle, reduce, and reuse whenever possible.
