Can you take magnesium with red light therapy?
Yes, magnesium and red light therapy can generally be part of the same recovery routine. The important point is that they serve different roles.
Magnesium is an essential mineral involved in muscle and nerve function, energy metabolism, and ATP-related biochemical reactions. Red light therapy, also known as photobiomodulation, is a light-based modality being studied for its effects on mitochondrial processes, cellular signaling, and exercise recovery.
LumaFlex explains how to build a more thoughtful recovery stack, starting with sleep, nutrition, hydration, and training balance before adding targeted tools.

There are quite a few physical requirements when it comes to HYROX: running, pulling sleds, rowing, carrying, lunges, wall balls, and so on.
But how does the red light therapy come into play in terms of recovery from such an exhausting experience?
According to the scientific findings, red light therapy shows promise in some ways, especially when it comes to sore muscles and muscle performance recovery.
We looked at what the research actually says about red light therapy and HYROX training, including where the evidence is encouraging and where more research is needed.

What happens when light therapy and sound are used together?
Researchers are beginning to explore that question in clinical settings, including studies combining red and near-infrared light with therapeutic ultrasound and early research pairing light therapy with music.
The findings so far open an interesting area for further research, particularly around how different forms of light and sound may work together.
We take a closer look at the studies behind this emerging field, what researchers have observed so far, and what questions the next generation of clinical research could answer.

If you have melasma, you may have wondered whether red light therapy is something to avoid or something worth considering.
There are a few important distinctions between red light therapy, lasers, IPL, and other light-based treatments. What applies to one doesn't necessarily apply to the others.
We took a closer look at the relationship between red light therapy and melasma, including what to consider before using light-based skincare devices.

Red light therapy is becoming a familiar part of facials, spa packages, wellness rituals, and at-home skincare routines. That raises a simple question: what is the light actually doing for your skin?
Research suggests red light photobiomodulation may improve some visible signs of photoaging, particularly certain wrinkle outcomes. The important nuance is that “skin rejuvenation” is not one single clinical result. Wrinkles, texture, firmness, elasticity, hydration, and collagen-related changes are separate outcomes, and studies do not always find the same effect across all of them.
One randomized split-face trial found a 31.6% reduction in periocular wrinkle volume after 10 treatments over four weeks using a defined 660 nm red-light protocol. The same study did not find improvements in hydration or viscoelasticity. A newer sham-controlled home-use mask study reported significant differences in crow’s-feet assessments at 8, 12, and 16 weeks.
These findings are promising, but they belong to the specific devices and protocols that were studied. They should not be treated as a guarantee for every device, treatment, or person.
Our new guide explains why red light therapy is appearing in beauty treatments, what the research has measured, how professional and at-home use differ, and what realistic results look like.

How much of pickleball recovery happens after you leave the court?
The game may be over, but the body is still catching up. The stops, lunges, quick changes of direction, and repeated swings all add up. So what does a sensible recovery routine actually look like, and where could red light therapy fit into it?
We dug into the recovery side of pickleball, including what happens after a demanding session and what we know so far about using red light therapy around exercise.

What happens when one PBM device enters family life?
A mother began using photobiomodulation as part of her recovery routine after the physical demands of childcare, walking, and daily activity. Over time, the technology became part of a broader household conversation about recovery, individual needs, and responsible use.
But shared technology does not mean shared protocols. Our latest article explores what this real-world family experience can show—and where anecdotal observations stop short of clinical proof.

Red light therapy and microneedling are often used together, but when should you actually use the light?
Before the treatment? After? And does the wavelength make a difference?
We looked at what the current evidence says, what changes depending on the depth of the treatment, and what to consider while the skin is still recovering.

Should you use red light therapy before or after a chiropractic adjustment?
There isn't a universal answer.
Some practitioners use it before treatment to help relax muscles, while others use it afterward to support recovery and manage temporary soreness.
Current research hasn't shown that one timing is consistently better than the other. The decision usually depends on your symptoms, treatment goals, and your chiropractor's approach.
Our latest article explores:
• How chiropractic care and red light therapy differ
• Which conditions have the strongest evidence
• What current research says about combining both therapies
• How to choose an at-home device

Postherpetic neuralgia can persist long after a shingles rash has healed, leaving some patients with burning pain, sensitivity to touch, and disrupted sleep despite standard medical treatment.
This case report documents the experience of a 57-year-old man who incorporated home photobiomodulation using the Lumaflex BodyPro alongside prescribed topical medication following hospital discharge. Over approximately six months, the documented recovery included gradual reductions in burning pain and nighttime discomfort, improved sleep quality, and greater comfort during daily activities.
The article also examines how these observations compare with the published evidence on photobiomodulation for postherpetic neuralgia, including proposed biological mechanisms, recovery timelines, and the role of home implementation in long-term care.
