Backed By Science, Not Gimmicks: The Science Behind The Plug 🔬

A popular saying goes, “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago; the second best time is today.” The sentiment is simple: You can’t change the past, but you can change your present! 🧐 Starting a health journey is the same in many ways, but today might be the hardest time to choose what to spend your hard-earned money. 💸 Store shelves and pharmacy counters abound in options, and without the proper information, they all meld into a giant question mark. ❓

We at The Plug make it simple: We’re clinically tested and proven to help reduce liver damage. If you’re part of the 1 in 3 Americans with some form of liver damage or want to avoid being a part of the statistic, we have options to help. 💁‍♂️ But let’s be real, not many of us want to sit and read a government-approved clinical report on why The Plug works. So today we'll give you the highlights! 🙌

First, let’s discuss how The Plug works. ⬇️

Diagnosing a damaged liver isn’t as easy as one might imagine. Liver failure is a different matter, which will show up in ugly ways. 🤒 But a liver that is not working 100% can be trickier. One of the ways doctors test to see if liver damage has occurred is by looking for specific enzymes: AST (aspartate aminotransferase) and ALT (alanine transaminase), to be specific. Think of this like having a runny nose on a windy spring day. 🤧 The mucus isn’t the problem; it’s your body’s way of protecting you from pollen, which it perceives as a dangerous foreign substance. The Plug was proven to decrease the levels of AST and ALT in the liver after only a week! 📉

Why does The Plug do this? 🤔

The answer is poetically simple: the right combination of all-natural ingredients and generations of wisdom. 🧘‍♀️ Take Pueraria lobata, for example; it’s been used in China and Japan to treat body heat, headaches, and eye soreness for thousands of years. What pre-modern practitioners did not know was that they were treating the root cause of the symptoms (no pun intended). 🫚 Alder tree is another clear example of an herb being used to treat, among many things, stomachaches of all kinds. 🌲 Without modern medicine, stomach cancer could look very similar to an ulcer; for those in pain, all that mattered was that remedies made from the alder tree worked.

But that’s not all! Take our other 11 ingredients, combine them into a proprietary blend, and you get a drink that helps with lowering cholesterol, reducing blood alcohol content (BAC) in the bloodstream, and helping relieve the symptoms of hangxiety. 😵‍💫 Why? Because the individual ingredients help with specific alignments, and together they work for many problems.

At its simplest form, The Plug works because it’s not new! Its strength comes from traditions that are tried and true. The Plug is an iteration of thousands of years of herbal medicine, backed by the science we as humans have always understood: Sometimes the easiest way to get healthy is by using what nature gave us! 🏞️

🌱 The Plug Garden: Milk Thistle 💜

Hey, PlugFAM! Today we’ll be discussing the prickly purple flower milk thistle (Silybum marianum). It is a flowering herb related to the daisy and ragweed family that has been used for more than 2,000 years as a treatment for liver disorders! It grows to three feet tall with large purple flowers and is named for the white veins on its prickly leaves. Native to Europe, specifically Mediterranean countries, milk thistle has been used traditionally for centuries to treat liver disorders. 🌿

Milk thistle was introduced into North America by early colonists. Historically, European and medieval heaters relied on milk thistle for a variety of ailments. The herb provides liver support, as it has been the most common traditional remedy for liver congestion. ❤️‍🩹

Modern uses still include liver protection, as milk thistle is frequently used to support the liver in managing conditions like alcoholic liver disease, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), and hepatitis. It also helps shield liver cells from toxins and promotes cell regeneration. Milk thistle can be taken as supplements like capsules, tablets, or liquid extracts. 💊

Benefits of milk thistle include filtering toxins, metabolizing nutrients, and aiding acid digestion. These benefits stem primarily from silymarin, a powerful group of plant compounds with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antiviral properties. Milk thistle can also lower blood sugar levels (great for people with diabetes!) and could help treat acne due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects! ✨

As for fun facts, the entire plant is edible. It’s also a real life poison antidote, and it’s used for magic and folklore! 🔮 Extracts from the plant are used in clinical settings to treat accidental poisoning from the deadly “death cap” mushroom (Amanita phalloides). Besides medicine, historic folklore claims growing milk thistle in your garden fends off thieves, and carrying its flowers was believed to boost vitality and passion. 🙌

Additionally, milk thistle is historically known as "wild artichoke,” as every part of the plant, from roots and stems to spiky flower buds, can be eaten. The seeds are also oil-rich! Plus, a single milk thistle plant can also produce over 6,000 seeds per year, as it’s highly prolific. Their seeds can even remain viable and sprout in the soil for almost a decade! 🌱

Milk thistle isn’t just a pretty purple flower — it can be a prickly miracle for people living with liver conditions! Next time you see this cacti-looking plant, remember the centuries-old herbal remedy that it is. That’s why we included the powerful milk thistle into our Plug Pills’ formula! 😁
