Our history with Jacob Lees🦅 is pretty cool! An excellent cowboy, but beyond that, he’s one of the good guys!! This summer, at the Calgary Stampede he rode Monkey Wrench for 86.5 points & advanced to the next round. Next round came & he drew Minnesota Joe & rode for 88.5 points to head to the short round.
Cowboys chose from a pool of horses for the short round. A pool of OUTSTANDING horses. He took a chance on a little roan mare from the only contractor from Texas at the Calgary Stampede …we were anxiously watching, biting nails, nervous. When he chose her, our whole group likely rattled that entire section of the stands.
We have confidence in our horses, but we are also over 1800 miles from home in Lipan, TX & these are animals. We cannot MAKE them do anything they don’t want. But Watermelon BUCKED & Jacob rode the hair off of her (figuratively, not literally) for 91.5 points. He finished 🥈 and won $20,000 for that ride. Watermelon’s stock score was the exact same as the World Champion Ba****ck horse Disco Party from the Calgary Stampede. And we left Canada so appreciative of the opportunity, the hospitality & certainly thankful for Jacob’s confidence in our livestock. It’s important to us to keep stock under cowboys that they can cash checks on!
