Last week was a huge one for the MyRacehorse stable, as we celebrated big wins from a trio of talented c**ts. ⭐️👏✨
First up was Caldera, who upped his unbeaten streak this season to three while lowering his own track record at Colonial Downs—stopping the clock in a swift 1:32.27, one of the fastest one-mile clockings in racing history. Last year’s Sunland Derby and Bathhouse Row S. runner-up was transferred this season to trainer Saffie Joseph, Jr. after the passing of his prior conditioner, the legendary Hall of Fame D. Wayne Lukas. Caldera kicked things off for the new barn with a romp at Gulfstream in April before clearing two more conditions in Virginia. This latest win—good for a career-best 99 Beyer Speed Figure—has us thinking G1 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile.
Focus then shifted overseas to England, where Royal Ascot romper Bacio handled the deep end with aplomb, running some of the best turf sprinters in the planet off their feet to annex the G1 Nunthorpe S.—a race trainer Wesley Ward has been eager to add to his CV. The sophomore son of Maclean’s Music has won all four of his career starts since MyRacehorse bought into him last fall, and he’s looking like the G1 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint favorite at the moment.
In addition to that proven pair continuing to strut their stuff, there’s a new c**t on the block in Conviction. Our most-expensive 2-year-old in training purchase ever at $800,000 is so far looking worth the price tag, as he was a green-but-good three-length debut graduate for trainer Saffie Joseph, Jr. on Saturday at Gulfstream Park. We can’t wait to see what the son of Tiz the Law does next with that first experience under his belt.
We’ve got lots to be excited about as summer racing winds down and we begin to look towards Fall championship season.
