In their first-ever 12U tournament, the Texas Desperados didn't just step up—they jumped in with both feet.

Playing through punishing 100-degree Texas heat, this crew faced major transitions head-on: stepping up to a bigger ball, adjusting to a further pitching distance, and playing in a brand-new age division. But instead of chasing an easy weekend record by keeping everyone in their comfort zones, we used this tournament as a crucible for growth. We threw girls into positions they’d never played before—first-time pitchers, new catchers, and unfamiliar faces at shortstop.

Could we have played it safe and chased a higher finish? Absolutely. But this weekend was about building a foundation, not a trophy. We fought our way into the top bracket, and while we didn’t finish the way we wanted, the grit displayed by these girls was unmatched.

What we walked away with is an entire roster of versatile utility players who lift each other up, play for the team over themselves, and refuse to back down. We saw what needs work, and that’s what practice is for. To anyone underestimating this group: watch out.

We are so proud of this team and ready to see how far hard work, hustle, and a team-first mindset take us this season. Better than yesterday, every single day. 🥎🔥
