The Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada was founded on April 4, 1960 and today includes 1,850 active members and 100 retired members through 19 Locals that include Boulder City, Carson City, Central Lyon County, East Fork, Elko, Elko County, Henderson, Incline Village, Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Mt. Charleston, North Lyon County, Pahrump, Reno, Reno Airport, Sparks, Storey County, Tahoe Douglas,
and Truckee Meadows. The association's objective was and still is today, to organize all paid professional Fire Fighters within the state of Nevada and encourage a higher plane of skill and efficiency, and to encourage the establishment of schools of instruction for imparting greater knowledge of fire fighting and prevention. The Association also promotes and protects legislation surrounding the welfare of Fire Fighters due to environment hazards encountered throughout the lifetime of a Fire Fighter. The State of Nevada has enacted laws that speaks to these hazards and protects the rights of emergency personnel impacted by these hazards. Current officers of this statewide organization include: president, Angelo Aragon, secretary-treasurer, Scott Gorgon, southern district vice president representing Local 1285, Cory Whitlock, southern district vice president representing Pahrump Valley Local 4068, North Las Vegas Local 1607, and Henderson Local 1883, Brian Wolfgram and northern district vice president representing Carson City Local 2251, Tahoe-Douglas Local 2441, East Fork Local 3726, Storey County Local 4227, Central Lyon County Local 4728, Bryon Hunt. The Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada encourage cultivation of friendship among its members and support of their communities. Current state community support efforts include a sponsorship of scholarships through the Nevada Public Education Foundation. These scholarships are made possible by proceeds from annual sales of the Professional Fire Fighters Nevada State license plates that are available to the membership. The Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada have a Benevolent Association that oversees all charitable donations. The mission of the Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada is to care for those who are here today, those who have gone before us and those who will surely follow.

Nevada! Las Vegas Firefighters are excited to announce a two-day Women’s Boot Camp on October 9th and 10th. We invite all women ages 17 and older who are interested in learning more about the fire service and experiencing what a career in the fire service has to offer.
-Day 1Â will focus on our physical fitness evaluation (PT) and provide an introduction to the interview process, including helpful insight into what candidates can expect.
- Day 2Â will be a hands-on skills day, giving participants the opportunity to experience some of the skills and equipment we use on the job.Â

FIRE WATCH
15 Reno firefighters graduated from their academy on Friday, and some will even be joining the line of duty as soon as Saturday morning. We got a chance to speak with some of the graduates, and they shared how excited they are to get to work. Aimee Arellano reports.
