Bob Dillingham is a 31 year old glassblower from Las Vegas, NV., recovering from surgery for a brain tumor he had removed on Oct. 16, 2014.
In July 2014 Bob was diagnosed with a brain tumor called Cystc hemangioblastomas. The tumor was the size of a golf ball and attached to his Medulla Oblongata. The tumor so aggressive that his doctor in Las Vegas did not want to remove it. While awaiting for approval to go to UCLA Medical Center to have the tumor removed, he had to have a shunt placed in his head. This was to help relieve pressure
to his brain from water fluid that was building up. On the evening of Oct. 1, 2014 Bob was transported by ambulance to UCLA Medical Center. Because of complications from the water build up on his brain Bob had at least 6 surgeries just trying to keep him alive. There was a point were the doctors told us it was so bad that they did not think they could even do it. Finally on Oct 16, 2014 Bob under went a 13 hour surgery to remove the tumor. During surgery he lost 5 liters of blood. Dr. Martin said that they removed all of the tumor but could not tell us is there was any neurological damage. They said that the area where they had removed the tumor was swollen and was pushing against the nerve that wakes us up. When the swelling goes down he should regain consciousness It was 3 weeks after his surgery and he still was not waking up. Only slight eye, leg and feet movement. About that time Dr. Martin came in and said that Bobs MRI showed that the swelling was going down and they see damage to the area where the tumor was. They said they could not guarantee us that Bob would get better. We are going to do all it takes to make Bob better!!
