When you rush into something without pacing yourself, you might just lose your way. Don’t give up! Hit the reset button, slow your roll, BE CALM and give it a go again.
Your success is waiting on the other side of CALM.
Are you always in a hurry? Or you feel like if you don’t get something done quickly, you’re waisting time? Years of pushing your schedule to achieve more still has you stressed out. PTSD style.
The results that your body takes on from living in the fight or flight mode for most of your adult life, hasn’t served you well. Our system stops functioning properly and we go off kilter. We can be fatigued and tired all the time. Adrenal fatigue is a thing and “pushing through” is what causes it.
How many times in your life have you just pushed through? You’re post menopause and old enough now at the age of 55-60 or maybe even younger or older, it doesn't matter in the end. It’s time to slow your focus and expectations and honor yourself completely.
Deep breaths, calm stillness to reset will help so much! Yoga offers so many opportunities to calm your mind and focus on what really matters at the time.

What nobody tells you about practicing yoga after 55, after the knees start screaming and I’m sure you know about the hips? Whatever! The hips are stupid but we work on that with yoga thank goodness!

It’s about slowing it down, moving powerfully through transitions, holding poses longer and using props because they will help you improve your practice, strength and balance much faster than not using them! They aren’t just for beginners, they are for improving your practice.

I know that earlier on in my yoga practice my ego was challenging all of these beliefs but the truth is, I get a much deeper practice, improve my strength more and balance so much faster using props and moving slowly and holding poses longer than I ever did going through a flow that never challenged me for longer than 1 breath.

It’s easy to skim past the spiritual, deep level stuff when you flow. To be safe moving in a flow you have to pay attention to your body, your knees, your core your back etc. It’s challenging to have the time to actually think about how you’re feeling at a time like this, how you process that and move on from it.

To me, yoga is a spiritual focus, a time to check in and release control of fear and practice peace. This is how I feel about practicing yoga after 55, I’m so grateful to be here now at 60. How about you?

Let’s practice yoga together. My course, Come Home to Your Body is waiting for you and includes 6 intelligent yoga practices plus a limited time bonus lesson. The link is in my bio!

What is it worth to you to feel Strong, Capable, Confident and Empowered in your body again? To have a sustainable yoga practice that supports your longevity and spiritual wellbeing?
Do you feel like you have that kind of support now? If not, what’s missing?
Is it one on one support? Is it really talking about the nitty gritty of life after menopause but not really being heard? Is it that this new phase of life after 55 is throwing you for a loop that you weren’t expecting?
It can be wonderful and maybe it is, in part any way. And then it’s hard, really hard to work through some of the stuff! The stuff that we didn’t ever talk about when we were raising kids or working the J O B. Focusing inward on Self can be a scary place to go. And in reality, back then, we didn’t really know what that meant.
Well hello, it’s here and it’s time to take charge of your thoughts and gear them to empower yourself to live the best most joyful life you possibly can! Let’s do this!

Yoga is the careful Balance of Dispassion and Dedication. It’s the Balance of Practice and Detachment, of Caring enough, and not Caring too much.
Yoga is the Balance of Effort and Ease.
When we say we need more balance in our lives, this is usually what we’re talking about not standing balance. It’s not that we want to stumble and fall while walking down the street because we lose our balance, that is something we definitely work on in yoga too.
Yoga isn’t the doing, it’s the undoing. It’s learning to calm and relax mind. It’s learning to focus the mind. We may do that with directing our breath, concentrating on our best alignment in a pose and in most cases, at some point in our practice, we are putting those two together.
Yoga is disregarding judgement and allowing ourselves to feel what we are feeling and not using comparison when we are creating a form with our body.
Yoga is leading you to Peace in your life.

Happiness, it’s your God given right! It’s everyone’s God given right. It is His Will for my life to be filled with joy. Yours too!

You don’t have to earn it contrary to some beliefs, you inherited it on the day you were born, you just didn’t know it. Now, as I have reached the age of 60, I realize there is nothing more that I want than to have joy so that I can give it away to everyone I meet!

Imagine if you extended joy to everyone you met how much happier the world would be!

It’s possible and that is my goal in this lifetime. The more people I can bring along with me on this journey of joy, the happier I will be and the more people whom I touch will also be happy and in turn, you know they will also be extending joy to everyone they see.

So there you have it, it’s as simple as that. We can’t control everything happening around us, or can we? Hmmm, if we can spread joy and the collective vibe of the world around us does the same, that’s a whole hell of a lot of joy vibing out there in the world!

I’m done with drama, I love to support and inspire and if more people can find joy through my posts, I’m ALL IN!

Come extend joy with me. Let's practice yoga together!

I know you’ve heard this before but,,,
Consistency will pretty much get you whatever you are working towards. What’s your goal?

Is it losing 15 pounds? Is it running a mile? Is it doing a handstand without the wall or is it maybe sticking a standing split and holding both hands in prayer at your chest without losing your balance for the very first time. (That’s really a challenge!)

Consistently working toward something on a regular basis will help you achieve it.

Remember to save time for fun though. Lightening up and having fun on the journey is what it’s all about. How many times have you tried to do something, gotten side tracked and almost given up before you even truly started?

I used to definitely over goal set and they were always unrealistic and in turn, I didn’t achieve them. But remember, small, baby steps on your way to a goal will get you there faster than any big push and give up ever will!

What are you currently working on a little all the time that’s important to you?

There is a well known phrase that is so much harder to go along with than it should be.

“Patience is a virtue” boy is it! You know when you have months out until you go on that wonderful vacation in Europe that you’ve always dreamed about. You have the date but you’re also waiting for an approval for your travel visa.

Patience is a virtue.

Do you worry and stress out? Or do you just be patient and know that it is completely out of your hands?

Patience is a virtue.

Or maybe you have an incredible gift that you are waiting for the special day like birthday, anniversary, Christmas, but you really want to tell the person you’re giving it too.

Everything will unfold in it’s timing and I accept that. It will be so much more fun if you wait to spring the surprise!

You know what helps with patience? Keeping occupied, both mind and body. Doing breathing exercises, slow deep breathing when you’re feeling anxious, going for a walks, do a little fall clean up in the yard. Anything to get your mind off of what is making you anxious.

Remember, there are lots of great things to occupy your time while you wait and you can’t make time go faster. Learn to go with the flow. Everything will unfold in it’s timing, it’s so much easier to accept that.

Your social media isn’t for your friends although some may find it entertaining but social media is actually for those who need what you have to offer. It’s an outlet for you to express yourself and be seen.

Have you ever posted something that really made you happy, maybe laughed joyfully and someone commented something negative or posted a dumb emoji and you have allowed it to totally mess with your head.

Maybe you took that post down and didn’t share something like that again for a long time even though you wanted to.

Don’t let the haters and the doubters keep you from finding that person or people whom you are here to connect with! That’s right, you are here for a reason and as crazy as social media is, you have this amazing opportunity to touch so many lives in a short period of time!

Just go for it, let them judge. Be you, Be confident, Be empowered so that you can be that for someone else! ☮️

I used to think that pain was weakness leaving the body so I went for it. While it felt great at the time (in my crazy young brain), I also ignored the smaller supportive connective tissue warning me occasionally because I just pushed through it. Knee caps talking, back aching. Now I pay in my body!

What now?

We take care of all of it with yoga. Smart, purposeful yoga. You’re post menopause which means you’re probably 55, 60 or older, you must do it differently than you used to. We’re talking longevity now.

You have to be open to learning a new way of being strong, building endurance, flexibility and balance. Sure, you will work your core, you will definitely know you are building strength in your legs but you probably won’t be doing a hundred lunges in order to achieve it. Not if you want to feel good long term.

In my yoga course we practice strength and alignment techniques that will help you in any class you take. You will be able to make every pose you practice safer and more appropriate for your body now, not the practice you had when it was “pain as weakness leaving the body”.

Happy September Equinox-Welcome to fall and Fall weather! We are in full rainy season around here, kind of late actually but we will talk it!

In Astrology the September Equinox marks the official start of Libra season, emphasizing themes of balance, harmony, and relationship assessments.

Culturally and spiritually viewed as a natural checkpoint for reflection, decluttering, and reorganizing personal priorities.

I find this second one especially intriguing. I have mentioned before that I am moving through the 12 week course, the Artist’s Way. I’m currently on week 6 and it’s all about noticing abundance in your life.

During the course she gives you ideas for what she calls “tasks” to help you unstick yourself and your creative process. I write my 3 morning pages and sometimes do one of the activities she
suggests. Seriously, this is like giving yourself 12 weeks with a counselor and you are it! You’re working through all your own crap and it’s pretty amazing!

Back to the connection, I have been decluttering my closet. I have a long way to go and I love going to Savers, our version of Goodwill. I love to thrift shop. I have decided that in order to go and find a treasure, I have to first drop off a full garbage bag full of donations. So, over time, I will be clearing out all the crap! It’s feeling great! I think I’m aligning quite will with the September Equinox.
