Technology has made communication easier than ever.

But communication and connection are not the same thing.

You can:

• Follow hundreds of people
• Join dozens of groups
• Message anyone instantly

And still feel alone.

Because community isn't built through access.

It's built through presence.

Real connection requires:

• Shared experiences
• Familiar faces
• Repeated interactions
• Physical environments

Things algorithms can't fully replicate.

What happens when basketball becomes your networking strategy?

Meet Matthew Fritton, part of the Indianapolis crew and a player who knows that basketball is about more than what happens on the court.

For him, The Pickup Project is about community, communication, teamwork, and supporting the people around you. Off the court, he stays busy with sports, the gym, friends and family, and live music.

Working in sales operations and customer success at Materials Data Management, he knows the value of strong relationships and TPP gives him another place to build them.

Your next connection could be waiting on the court. Come join the Indianapolis crew, meet new people, grow your network, and get a game in while you’re at it!

One year. Countless games. So many connections.

Behind TPP Omaha’s first year is a Champion who kept showing up, bringing people together, and helping create a community that goes beyond the court.

Shoutout to Jamel for being at the heart of the Omaha community from day one. 🏀

Here’s to year two! 🙌

Matthew puts it best: the game creates opportunities to connect, communicate, work together, and support the people around you.

That’s what makes The Pickup Project a community. You show up for the game, but you leave with new connections, familiar faces, and people you’re glad to see again 🙌

Join Matthew and the Indy crew this Friday!

08/19/2026

Showing up can lead to more than just a good game.

You might meet a new teammate, make a new friend, or build a connection that carries beyond the court.

The game starts at 6. Come play, connect, and see where the conversation takes you.

See you Friday!

NEW CITY LAUNCH INCOMING! 🚨

The Pickup Project is officially heading to Tallahassee, Florida! 🎉

We bring professionals and community-minded people together through structured 1-hour pickup basketball runs designed to make it easy to stay active, meet new people, and build genuine relationships.

Because while basketball is what brings people to the court, connection is what keeps people coming back. 🤝

It’s a chance to step away from work, get a game in, and actually get to know the people around you...
without the usual networking event or awkward small talk.

Tallahassee, we’re excited to start building this community with you! 🏀

Know someone in Tallahassee who should be part of it? Tag them, send this their way, and tell them to sign up! https://zurl.co/VP0jp

WHAT A WAY TO CELEBRATE ONE YEAR, OMAHA! 🎉

22 people showed up to celebrate 1 year of The Pickup Project Omaha, and it was such a great morning!

Two courts. 5v5 runs. Great people, great games, plenty of good energy all around.

Even more special, we had Mitch Case, our Founder, in the house putting up shots and getting in on the runs with the Omaha crew!

Congratulations, Omaha, on an incredible first year!

If you’ve been thinking about coming out… this is your sign!

A year ago, we took The Pickup Project beyond Kansas City for the first time, and Omaha was the city that believed in us enough to take that step with us.

And we have to give credit to the person who believed first, Jamel Hamilton, our first TPP Champion outside Kansas City. 🖤💛

Jamel took a chance on the vision, brought TPP to Omaha, and helped prove that what started in Kansas City could work anywhere.

One year later, Omaha has become a community of its own, built through early mornings, competitive runs, new friendships, and countless connections made on and off the court.

And now, with 7 locations, we can look back and see just how important that first step was.

To Jamel, thank you for believing in us and helping make Omaha possible.

And to everyone in Omaha who has shown up, brought a friend, made a connection, and helped build this community, thank you for making TPP Omaha what it is today.

Happy 1st Anniversary, Omaha! 🎉

You were the first to believe TPP could be bigger than one city.
Look at how far that belief has taken us. 🏀

FAQ: How is networking included?

You don’t have to walk into a room and wonder, “So… who do I talk to?”

At The Pickup Project, networking is built into the experience, not forced into it.

You play together.
You compete together.
You see the same people consistently.
And naturally, conversations start.

From Circle Up at the beginning of each session to the conversations before and after games, TPP creates an environment where people can meet, build relationships, and get to know each other beyond the court.

Because sometimes the best connections happen when you're not trying so hard to make them.
