Young Wellness

Young Wellness Certified Transformation Coach & Weight Management Specialist | Young Wellness LLC | Ditching the fitness industry script to build real, permanent change.

My name is Shelly Young, and I am passionate about helping people achieve their fitness goals. With a background in wellness journeys, I have dedicated my life to promoting health and wellness. At Young Wellness, I believe in a holistic approach to fitness that encompasses not just physical strength, but also mental and emotional well-being. My journey in fitness began when I reached a point in my life when I needed the next size up in jeans. I started my journey a little over 300 pounds and have since gotten down to be half my original size! Over the years I have developed a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to stay fit and healthy while still enjoying life. Whether you're looking to loose fat, build muscle, or simply lead a more active lifestyle, I am here to guide and support you every step of the way.

Your life isn’t going to suddenly become perfectly convenient just because you decided to get healthier.

So your plan needs to account for that.

Busy week? Adjust.

Low energy? Modify.

Can’t make the gym? Walk.

Missed a workout? Keep going.

That’s not lowering your standards.

That’s building a plan you can actually live with.

I was nervous. I showed up anyway. And I’m really damn glad I did. 🖤

Friday was my first public event since rebranding Young Wellness LLC, and I’m not going to lie—I was nervous as hell.

Walking into a room full of women I didn’t know, putting myself and my business out there, and talking about what I do definitely pushed me outside my comfort zone.

But then something really cool happened.

Women showed up. Women stopped at my table. Women asked questions. And some of them entered my raffle. 🖤

There was a nice group of women at the Women’s Wellness Workshop, and I’m incredibly grateful I got to be part of it.

Young Wellness is about more than weight loss. It’s about helping people build the skills, confidence, strength, and habits to actually change their lives—and I loved getting the opportunity to talk about that in person.

A huge thank you to Empower HER Fitness for hosting such a great event and bringing so many women together.

And to the women who stopped by my table: thank you for letting me tell you a little bit about what I’m building.

This was just the beginning. 🖤

I missed two days.

That’s it.

No dramatic restart.
No punishment.
No “I’ll start Monday.”
No trying to undo what already happened.

I just keep going.

And I think this is one of the biggest mindset shifts you can make when you’re trying to build sustainable habits:

You don’t need to be perfect. You need to get better at coming back.

So if this week didn’t go how you planned?

Same.

Keep going.

If you’ve ever walked into a fitness or wellness space and immediately thought, “I don’t belong here”…

I want you to know that feeling is exactly why I care so much about making wellness more approachable.

I’ll be at the Women’s Wellness Workshop tomorrow, September 11th, at 6 PM Empower HER Fitness in Jeannette.

Admission is $10.

If you’re going, come find me and say hi. ❤️

The number on the scale is only one part of the story.

If you’re losing weight, I also want you thinking about strength, muscle, nutrition, movement, and what your body will be capable of when you get there.

Medication can be a tool.

Coaching can help you build the habits and skills around that tool.

And strength training? That’s about building a body that can DO things—not just take up less space.

If you’re using a GLP-1, this is an area worth paying attention to.

Consistency is often boring.

It’s the convenient meal.

The short walk.

The workout that wasn’t your best.

The decision to go to bed instead of forcing another thing onto an already exhausting day.

It doesn’t have to look impressive to count.

Actually, I’d argue that the boring stuff is often what makes the biggest difference long-term.

One meal isn’t a failed week.

One missed workout isn’t a failed week.

One weekend isn’t a failed week.

The “screw it, I’ll start Monday” mindset is what turns a small detour into a full-on vacation from your goals.

You don’t need to be perfect.

You need to get better at coming back.

What’s your most common “well, I already screwed up…” moment?

Exercise is not repayment for food.

You don’t have to “earn” dinner.

You don’t have to punish yourself because you ate something you enjoyed.

And you don’t have to turn every workout into a test of how much suffering you can tolerate.

Train because you want a stronger, more capable body.

Eat because your body needs fuel.

Those things can coexist.

I started exercising at over 300 pounds.

And I was terrified.

I didn’t know what I was doing. I was self-conscious, overwhelmed, and convinced everyone in the gym was looking at me.

So I did what a lot of people do when they don’t know where to start…

I turned to YouTube. 😂

I followed workout videos. I listened to what I now know was a LOT of bro science. I used workout disks at home. I pieced things together as I went.

Eventually, I worked up the courage to join a gym.

And one of the biggest things I learned wasn’t actually about exercise.

Your environment matters.

The cheapest gym isn’t always the best gym for you.

The fanciest gym isn’t automatically the best either.

The best gym is the one where you feel comfortable enough to keep showing up.

Where you can ask questions.

Where you aren’t made to feel like you don’t belong because you’re bigger, newer, slower, or still figuring things out.

Because you do not need to get fit before you walk through the door.

You don’t need to lose 50 pounds first.

You don’t need to know how every machine works.

You don’t need to already look like you belong there.

You just need to start somewhere.

And if you’re starting from the place I was once standing in, I want you to know this:

You belong there, too. ❤️
