Tina and I had an incredible time during the 2024 Steak Cookoff Association (SCA) season. We hit the road along the east coast, making new friends and reconnecting with old ones, which is one of the highlights of being part of the SCA. After taking a nine-month break for a Navy deployment (2023/2024), we kicked things off strong in February, but then had to deploy again in the summer for another pause. We really made the most of our weekends, enjoying family time and contests throughout the year. Huge thanks for all the support, and a special shout out to the amazing cooks from North Carolina who make contests so fun and family-friendly—Ralph, Aaron & Teagan, Nathan, Freddie, Bruce, Grace & Jeffery, and many more.
Here’s what we accomplished by the end of the year:
#1 SCA cook in Virginia
#2 in the SCA/Grill Grates Point Race – 6.167 total average
#21 in the US SCA/Ace Hardware Points Chase
1 Perfect Score in New Holland, Pennsylvania – 254.5
5 SCA Golden tickets (contest wins)
And our ladies crushed it too:
Cadence 2 – 1st Place Kids Que contests
Valentina 1 – 1st Place Kids Que contest
We couldn’t have achieved all this without our amazing sponsors, Dead Bird Walking (DB 180) and our newest partner, Team Disruption (Disruption Rubs). Until we make the donuts later this year, take care of yourselves.

We had an incredible time at the Johnny Mack Steak Cook-Off in Mt. Olive, North Carolina. This is hands down one of the best contests we’ve been a part of on the East Coast. The location was fantastic, but it was the camaraderie that really stood out, with friendships everywhere you looked. Huge thanks to Freddy and Nathan for being such outstanding hosts—it was an unforgettable experience.
After the dust settled, we ended up with a 15th-place finish in Steak A, where tenderness threw us off a bit. Our scores were 50/47/50/54.2/50, showing us we’re still on the right path. In Steak B, we took 7th, which was a real morale boost.
Congrats to everyone who made it to the stage!

Back at making donuts in North Carolina at the Steak Attack at Johnny Mack Steak Cook Off in Mt. Olive. We missed last nights festivities but are grateful we could attend today. Good luck everyone.

We had a blast down in Jacksonville, Florida. The heat had everyone bringing their “A” game, and those steaks cooked up faster than usual. The Flamingo RV Park was awesome, kicking off with cardboard races and then the ladies took a dip in the lake.
We scraped into the top 10 in Steak A with a 10th place call and nailed a solid 3rd place in Steak B. It was a hell of a good time, and if we can swing it next year, we all agreed it’d be worth the trip.

Time to make the donuts in sunny Jacksonville, Florida. The current #1 through #6 cooks in the nation in the points race are here plus the Florida legends calls for a tough competition. Good luck to everyone competing - I see you do your thing out there.

We rolled into the contest thinking it’d rain all day, but man, it turned out to be a scorcher in Pink Hill, North Carolina.
The ladies knocked it out of the park with their steaks. Cadence snagged 3rd place, and Valentina celebrated her first 1st place victory!
In Steak A, we ended up in 13th. In Steak B, we finished 2nd with a perfect tie. The coin flip for the trophy didn’t go our way, so we took home the 3rd place throphy. Still, North Carolina’s always a blast with great folks who are quick to lend a hand when you need it.
Congrats to Steve Noble for taking 1st in Steak A and Gary Zimmerman for a perfect score of 254.5 and 1st place in Steak B!
Thanks to our sponsor supporting active duty military.
