"Under the Sea" Project Update 6 - I keep hearing the ZZ Top song, "She's Got Legs," running through my head. Although, octopi don't have legs, just a plethora of arms. Made good progress today blocking out basic shapes and forms on two of Dave's arms.

I won't be in the studio for most of this coming week due to burning my art hand in a stupid grilling mistake. I have second degree blisters on my palm and probably some of my fingers. I'll be fine. Dave the Octopus will not escape unfinished!

"Under the Sea" Project Update 5 - calling it a day. Dave the Octopus is giving me a wary eye telling me that I'm tired and should walk away. Good advice, Dave. Picture taking is hard on such a large piece. It's difficult to show today's low relief work on the seaweed.

Completed my Pewter Mandala made during (Pewter Box) live Zoom workshop! I learned her new "work all from the front" technique. This is all one piece of flat pewter, worked and raised by hand with basic tools. Definitely will pull out this new skill in some of my upcoming pieces.

The finished pewter is 8.5" (21.6 cm) diameter mounted in a 10" (25.4 cm) square frame. I'm happy to report that I didn't slice a finger as I scored and snapped the upcycled mirror I rescued from the side of the road.

Do I look as fierce as the lion? Nah, it was very hot, humid, and bright yesterday (92 F / 33 C) as I dropped off Crush at the St. Augustine Art Association for the "Soak Up the Summer Art Sale." Artwork will be on display in the gallery and online July 3 - August 28!

"Crush the Sea Turtle" - hand-embossed pewter mounted on hand-chipped slate. Overall dimensions: slate 15"w x 12"h, pewter work 11.5"w x 3.5"h.

We went to the beach this morning for Crush's photo shoot and he got to see a couple of sea turtle nests! One looks like it was created last night because you can still see mama's tracks and depressions in the sand. Shhhhh, babies are sleeping 🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢🐢
