🦅 Behind the J-Hawks: Meet Trina

Treasurer | 1 Year on the J-Hawks Board | 1 Year with the J-Hawks

Trina joined the J-Hawks board this past year, while her son played his first season with the J-Hawks. Their baseball journey actually started earlier through the JAYBA rec program when he was younger.

As Treasurer, Trina helps keep the financial side of the organization running smoothly. She helps plan the yearly budget, manages finances, pays bills, and makes sure the organization stays compliant with its financial responsibilities.

Why does Trina volunteer?
Trina has always loved sports and enjoys putting her accounting background to work for a community organization that gives so much to local kids. She especially enjoys watching young athletes grow and develop throughout the course of a season.

Fun fact: When she's not at the ball field, Trina loves getting outdoors, whether that's fishing, hiking, or skiing. And you can often find her cheering on the Milwaukee Brewers!

We're grateful for Trina's time, talents, and willingness to help behind the scenes to keep JAYBA and the J-Hawks moving forward! 🦅

🦅 Behind the J-Hawks: Meet Chris

Concessions Manager | 1st Year with the J-Hawks & JAYBA Board

You may not always see what happens behind the concession stand, but Chris helps make sure it's ready to go whenever there's a game at the Town Hall fields! ⚾🌭

Chris just wrapped up his first season with the J-Hawks and on the board. As Concessions Manager, he keeps the concession stand stocked and makes sure everything is ready to serve our players, families, and fans throughout the season.

Why does Chris volunteer?
With some previous experience managing a snack bar, the concession stand seemed like a natural fit! He also enjoys being involved in the organization his son plays for and helping make the J-Hawks program successful.

Fun fact: Chris and his family are on a mission to visit all 30 Major League Baseball stadiums! They're officially 20 out of 30—two-thirds of the way there! We'll be following along to see where the quest takes them next!

We're grateful for Chris and all of the volunteers who help keep things running behind the scenes and yes, we're especially grateful when the concession stand has snacks.

🦅 Behind the J-Hawks: Meet Adam

Tournament Director | 7 Years with the J-Hawks

Adam has been part of the J-Hawks for seven years, serving in several roles along the way, including coach, J-Hawks Director, and now Tournament Director.

So, what does the Tournament Director do? A LOT goes into making those weekend tournaments happen! Adam coordinates and runs our tournaments, which are an important fundraiser for the J-Hawks program. The funds raised through these events help support our players and, importantly, the upkeep and improvements of our fields.

Why does Adam volunteer?
For Adam, volunteering is a great way to give back and help ensure kids have the opportunity to continue playing and developing their baseball skills. But it's about more than baseball. He believes the sport also teaches kids how to be good teammates and leaders, skills that will serve them well as they move on to high school, college, and beyond.

Fun fact: Adam loves good food, but there's one thing that holds a special place in his heart: Milwaukee-style cracker crust pizza. 🍕

We're grateful for the time Adam puts into making our tournaments successful and helping create opportunities for our players both on and off the field! 🦅⚾

🦅 Behind the J-Hawks: Meet Butch

JAYBA Chairman | J-Hawks Director | JAYBA Coordinator | Field Maintenance

Butch has been part of the Jackson J-Hawks program for five years, heading into his sixth, and has coached both of his sons throughout the program. He has served as the J-Hawks Director for two years and is entering his third, while also taking on the role of JAYBA Chairman and JAYBA Coordinator this season.

As J-Hawks Director, Butch helps coordinate tryouts, team formation, practice and field schedules, coach and player development, and provides guidance to coaches and families throughout the program. As JAYBA Chairman and Coordinator, he helps oversee the overall program, coordinates with surrounding communities, and organizes JAYBA teams, practices and games.

And if that's not enough, you can usually find Butch at the fields cutting grass, raking, dragging, chalking fields, coordinating maintenance projects, and cleaning up the park. Basically, if it happens at the J-Hawks fields, there's a pretty good chance Butch has something to do with it. 😂

Why does he volunteer?
"Long story short...I had an epiphany after a firefight in Afghanistan. When reflecting on the actions, I realized that I had an ability to maintain composure under pressure, ability to handle failure, and the ability to find success in failure. I recognized that I developed my resiliency at a young age on the baseball field. Every time I look at the fields and see them full of young ball players I think that if I can make an impact on just one that might serve our country in a big way, it's worth it!"

Fun fact: Butch grew up in Hawaii, enjoys candlelit dinners and long walks on the beach...and somehow ended up in Wisconsin. 🌴➡️🧀

🦅 Behind the J-Hawks: Meet Dan

Equipment Manager | 1st Year on the J-Hawks/JAYBA Board | 4th Year Coaching with the J-Hawks

Dan has been part of the J-Hawks family for four years as a coach, after previously coaching with the JAYBA program for several seasons. This year, he took on another role behind the scenes by joining the board as our Equipment Manager.

So, what does an Equipment Manager do? Quite a bit! ⚾
Dan organizes team equipment bags for the program, orders game baseballs for all age levels, and makes sure new player gear bags are ordered and ready to go.

Why does he volunteer?
"I love coaching youth sports because I believe it teaches kids teamwork, discipline, work ethic, and how to be good leaders."

And his commitment to youth sports doesn't stop with baseball. He's also been coaching youth football with the Grafton Gladiators for 14 years!

Fun fact: When he's not coaching, you'll probably find him enjoying the outdoors, riding his motorcycle, fishing, hunting, or traveling.

We're grateful for the time and experience Dan brings to the J-Hawks and for everything he does both on the field and behind the scenes!

🦅 Behind the J-Hawks: Meet Alissa

Marketing Director | 1 year on the board | Going on my 3rd year with the J-Hawks

Ever wonder who is behind all those J-Hawks Facebook and Instagram posts? 👋 That would be me!

As Marketing Director, I help tell the story of J-Hawks Baseball with highlighting our teams, players, coaches, accomplishments, and the moments that make this organization special. From game photos and team highlights to tryout promotions, sponsor spotlights, and community events, my goal is to showcase what J-Hawks Baseball is all about both on and off the field.

Why do I volunteer?
I love spreading the good news about our teams and giving our players the recognition they deserve. There are so many great moments happening throughout the season, and I enjoy finding ways to share them with our families and the community.

Fun fact: I went to college for marketing, but I don't actually work in the marketing field! 😂 Volunteering with the J-Hawks gives me a fun outlet to tap back into that part of my interests and put some of those skills to use!

I'm proud to be part of the team behind the teams and excited to continue helping tell the J-Hawks story! ⚾🦅

🦅 Behind the J-Hawks: Meet Monica

Website Manager | 1 Year on the JAYBA/J-Hawks Board | 5 Years with the J-Hawks

The J-Hawks are powered by a lot of behind-the-scenes work, and Monica is one of the people helping keep things running! As Website Manager, Monica manages the website and handles registration behind the scenes.

Monica's family joined the J-Hawks five years ago when their son was in U11, and they're heading into U16 this year!

Why does Monica volunteer?
For Monica's family, volunteering has truly become a family affair. Her two boys play and help out at the fields, her daughter has worked, and even ran, the concession stand, and her husband has coached and held several board positions.

"I love spending time with them and creating the opportunities for other families to also enjoy baseball together as we have."

Fun fact: When she's not at the ball fields, Monica enjoys camping and road trips!

🦅 Behind the J-Hawks: Meet Chris

Uniform Coordinator | 1st Year on the J-Hawks/JAYBA Board | 3rd Year with the J-Hawks

Someone has to make sure the J-Hawks look good and that's where Chris comes in!

As Uniform Coordinator, Chris manages the ordering of uniforms for all of our teams, coordinates team apparel sales, and helps make sure our players are looking their best in their J-Hawks gear.

Why does Chris volunteer?
Well... let's just say his love of baseball apparel runs deep. 😂 Chris is an avid collector of baseball team hats, with a collection of 60+ hats from Major and Minor League teams across the country. He's also a big fan of the classic throwback powder-blue uniforms, so who knows what kind of J-Hawks style inspiration he might bring our way next season! 👀

Fun fact: Whenever Chris travels somewhere, he makes it a priority to visit a Major or Minor League ballpark, whether it's catching a game, taking a tour, or stopping by the team store. Basically, if there's a baseball stadium nearby, Chris is probably finding a way to get there. ⚾🧢

We're grateful for the time and attention Chris puts into making sure our players look and feel like J-Hawks! 🦅❤️💙

🦅 Behind the J-Hawks: Meet Sarah

Sponsorship Chair | 3 Years on the J-Hawks/JAYBA Board

You may not see everything that happens behind the scenes to make JAYBA and J-Hawks Baseball possible, but our board members are working hard year-round to support our players and families.

Sarah has had a son playing with the J-Hawks for the past four years and has served on the board for the past three.

As Sponsorship Chair, Sarah works with local businesses and community partners to develop, secure, and maintain sponsorships that help support our organization. Those partnerships play an important role in providing opportunities and experiences for our players.

Why volunteer?
"My kids' love of baseball is what motivates me to give back. Seeing the joy, friendships, and life lessons they gain from the sport inspires me to help ensure all families have a positive experience in our league."

And when they're not helping support J-Hawks? 🎣 You'll probably find Sarah fishing!
