COFFEE WITH COACH FRIDAY
Courage
I think about my dad a lot when I think about courage. Over the years I have seen him face tough things with what many would call courage. But having lived behind the curtain, so to speak, I know he was often very afraid. But he faced it anyway.
I think sometimes we get courage all wrong.
We think courageous people are never afraid. That they’re confident. That they know exactly what they’re doing with every decision.
But I think real courage is being scared and doing it anyway.
It’s walking into the gym for the first time when you feel completely out of place.
It’s starting your life over at 40, 50, or 60.
It’s admitting something in your life needs to change—and then having the courage to change it.
Sometimes courage is saying yes. Sometimes it’s finally saying no.
Sometimes it’s holding on and fighting for something that matters to you. And sometimes it’s realizing you’ve fought long enough and having the courage to let go.
Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes it’s quiet. Sometimes nobody else even knows how hard the decision you just made was.
That pain you feel? Maybe that's courage growing inside you.
So if you’re waiting until you’re not scared anymore, that moment may never come. You may have to do it scared.
You don’t have to be fearless to be courageous. You just have to take the next step.
Now drink your coffee and go do something brave. ☕♥
