Today we officially kicked off the 2026 UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships with an official press conference held at The Westin Huntsville.

Today’s press conference featured athletes representing Team USA, Ireland, Norway, and the Netherlands and gave a first look at the medals being awarded at this weekend’s event. Thank you to all the athletes who have trained and traveled to visit our community, we look forward to watching you all race very soon!

We also want to share our gratitude toward the incredible teams that have helped us organize this event. Those include UCI, Medalist Sports, City of Huntsville, Alabama - Government, Huntsville Sports Commission, Huntsville-Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Huntsville/Madison County Chamber, and Cummings Research Park.

The 2026 UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships are officially kicking off this week in Huntsville, Alabama! Our 400+ athletes are fired up and ready to excel.

Huntsville came together yesterday to brief the public on road safety ahead of the World Championships happening next week. This community is used to hospitality and occasionally sharing the roads, but we want to ensure drivers are ready and aware! New people are moving to this city everyday and reminding folks that we will be hosting elite athletes on our roads is an important safety measure.

Thank you to our community partners, and Team GB, for supporting the press conference yesterday. Our local people are starting to show their excitement and we're looking forward to more teams arriving soon!

We want to thank the local Talakto District Committee for Scouting America for having us at their meeting tonight. We shared information about the upcoming Paracycling Road World Championships in Huntsville and volunteer and spectator opportunities over the four days of racing, Sept. 4-7. Several of these leaders have been involved in our past paracycling events, including one who has helped on our medical committee since the beginning! See you at the races!
