Ambassador Christian School is excited to welcome Kayla Carter as the new Head Coach of our Boys and Girls Tennis programs!

Coach Carter is no stranger to the ACS tennis family, having faithfully served as Assistant Coach alongside our beloved Coach Milton Fleming for the past two seasons. Following Coach Fleming's recent passing, Coach Carter is honored to continue the foundation he built and carry forward his legacy of faith, excellence, and love for our student-athletes.

Coach Carter brings a wealth of coaching experience, having served at River Run Country Club, the nationally recognized John McEnroe Tennis Academy, and William Peace University. She holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Winston-Salem State University and a master's degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Sport Psychology and Motor Behavior from the University of Tennessee.

A former captain of Winston-Salem State University's historic CIAA Championship women's tennis team, Coach Carter is passionate about developing student-athletes both on and off the court. She is committed to building a program rooted in excellence, integrity, character, and faith while helping each player grow as both a competitor and a leader.

'We're excited to promote Coach Kayla Carter to the head tennis coach position of our boys and girls teams', says Ambassador Athletic Director Jay Poag. 'There's no doubt that she will continue to build programs that will compete at the highest level. Her loyalty to Coach Fleming makes this such a natural transition in so many ways.'

Exciting to see our Ambassador Christian girls basketball team at the Joe Gibbs Racing Human Performance Institute this afternoon to participate in a research study on female shooting analytics. JGHPI is a biomechanical research facility that uses advanced technology like motion capture and force plates to analyze and optimize human movement for athletes and professionals.

The Lady Lions put on a shooting display! We'll look forward to receiving the results and using world class technology to make improvements! We appreciate the partnership with JGHPI and look forward to the next time our teams can be of service! Chase the Lion!

Ambassador Christian is excited to announce Ryun Cook as our Girls Head Basketball Coach. A legendary coaching figure in the Charlotte area, Coach Cook has amassed 212 career wins in coaching stints at Sun Valley HS and Weddington HS and is the all time winningest coach at both schools. His teams are known for being fast paced, aggressive and fundamentally sound. Coach Cook has guided teams to 4 conference championships, playing in 2 Elite 8s and 1 Final Four. One of his top highlights was coaching in the very first prestigious 'NC High School Coaches vs Cancer' event. He has been named 'Coach of the Year' on 3 occasions. He also coached and developed 'McDonalds All American' Stephanie Watts who later was the 10th pick in the WNBA draft.

In a statement after his hiring, Coach Cook commented, "I’m so excited to be joining Ambassador Christian for this next chapter of my coaching career. I firmly believe in the values and vision of the school and the athletic department. I'm ready to roll up our sleeves and get to work building a premier program that can be competitive with anybody in the country. I'm excited to 'Chase the Lion'."

Coach Cook and his wife, Andrea, are the proud parents of a true basketball family. Oldest son, AJ, was a premier player at Weddington HS leading his team to 2 state championships and played collegiately at Presbyterian College and Converse College. He currently is a top coach at trainer at the Carolina Courts organization. Their youngest son, Aidan, also played at Weddington and is currently a junior at UNCC where he serves as a basketball manager.
