Heartland Roller Derby

HRDU is launching an annual used derby gear and roller skate drive!

Heartland Roller Derby Union is growing, and we need your help outfitting our brand-new juniors team and beginner adult skaters.

We are holding a skate gear drive to collect gently used roller derby and skating gear for kids, teens, and new adults who are just getting started. Donated gear will help us create a shared gear library so new skaters can safely try roller derby while they work toward getting their own equipment.

We are accepting:

Roller skates
Helmets
Knee pads
Elbow pads
Wrist guards
Protective gear
Derby gear in usable condition

Your old gear could be the reason a kid gets to try roller derby for the first time, or the reason a brand-new adult skater feels brave enough to start.

Heartland is building roller derby from the ground up in League City, and every donation helps us make the sport more accessible, affordable, and welcoming for our community.

What an incredible Saturday for Heartland Roller Derby!

We are so proud of every skater who took the track against the South Texas Regulators. From the first whistle to the final jam, our team demonstrated determination, teamwork, and heart. The effort, resilience, and sportsmanship displayed by our skaters made us proud to wear the Heartland jersey.

A special congratulations to the Heartland MVP recipients:

We also want to recognize our juniors team, who performed incredibly throughout the game. They truly showcased their skill, growth, and passion for roller derby. Watching these young athletes compete and continue to develop their talent is inspiring, and we couldn't be prouder of what they accomplished.

Thank you to the South Texas Regulators for a great game, and thank you to all of our fans, volunteers, officials, and supporters who help make days like this possible. And a special thank you to Scott Hawthorn for taking some amazing photos, more pictures to come!

❤🖤 Hello Heartland Fam, we would like to make a HUGE announcement.....

After months of searching the surrounding cities, skating in elementary school gyms, parking lots, and abandoned playgrounds, the stars have finally aligned for Heartland...

We are so excited to share that we have found our official home!!

Heartland will now be practicing regularly at the League City Community Center, located at:

400 S. Kansas Ave.
League City, TX 77573

We are incredibly grateful to Of League City Government for opening their doors and allowing us the opportunity to skate, grow, and build community in this space. Their support means so much as we continue building Heartland from the ground up. Starting tomorrow, practice will be held on:

Mondays and Wednesdays
Beginner & Junior Skaters: 6:00–8:00 PM
Adult Skaters: 7:00–9:00 PM

Heartland is a community-first roller derby league, and we are actively recruiting! Adult skaters, junior skaters, beginners who have never laced up, returning players who have been off skates, zebras, NSOs, volunteers, parents, fans and supporters, and anyone who wants to be a part of the positive energy and good vibes... This month we’re celebrating TWO skaters who have been absolutely showing OUT on the track!

RedRum
Red has grown into someone who is confident, strong, and unafraid — whether that means asking every question, learning the strategy side of the game, or throwing herself into something she’s never tried before. She doesn’t give up. Full stop. Knowledge is power, and she’s hungry for it.

Skatanic Panic
Panic has pushed everything aside and shown UP — and it shows. Her skill level has skyrocketed, she’s stepping into the jammer position, and she’s growing into a real leader on the track. The work she’s put in speaks for itself.

These two are exactly what Heartland Roller Derby is all about. Give them some love in the comments!

And let’s talk about those juniors for a second. Cannonball, Wildfire, Harpoon, Gnarly Quinn, Ripsticks, and Polar are lacing up for their first ever WFTDA bout. We are so incredibly proud of these kids. 🖤❤️
