At what point did you realize that you’re getting stronger?

We all started for a reason.

Is your why still the same?

STORY // 003

When I decided to start telling the stories of the people who’ve chosen CHLKDUP, I knew it would give me the opportunity to tell the stories of some of my favorite people on the planet.

Steve Harlow is one of those people.

He isn’t just someone who believed in CHLKDUP. He’s a brother who’s watched me bleed for this brand, challenged me when I needed it, encouraged me when things got hard, and stood beside me long before there was much reason to.

I’m honored to tell his story.

ORIGIN

Harlow’s relationship with training started with gymnastics as a kid before moving into weightlifting and eventually functional fitness.

“I know training is the key to aging well and gives you the ability to enjoy your later years.”

For Harlow, training isn’t about chasing numbers anymore. It’s about building a body that’s capable of carrying him through every season of life.

PURSUIT

Today, Harlow is working to regain consistency in his own training while building Caffeinated & Confident into its next chapter and making sure he’s showing up where his family needs him most.

“Family is for sure a significant motivator, but also knowing that I have many reps in and can handle the challenge.”

When I asked him what strength means today, his answer had nothing to do with the weight on the bar.

“Strength is how someone handles time under tension. Can they rebound after long periods of hard times? Will they totally change who they are when good times are in abundance?”

WHY IT MATTERS

When I asked Harlow why he got behind CHLKDUP so early, his answer reminded me why I’ve always respected him.

“I saw CHLKDUP as a really great product that was working to build up the community around it. So I had to get on board with that movement.”

At the end of every Story //, I’ll ask the same question.

Ten years from now, what do you hope people can say about the way you lived, the things you built, and the people you impacted?

Harlow’s answer was simple.

“I hope they don’t have to say anything. I hope if my name is mentioned, they simply smile and are filled with pure elation.”

Sometimes the hardest part isn’t the workout.

It’s knowing where to begin.

We get it.

Start with three classes. No Cost. No Pressure.

STORY // 002

Shannah Brent

Origin

“I’m grateful for the body and strength and athleticism I was given. I’ve been doing CrossFit for over a decade and it’s taken me that long to finally be comfortable being strong.”

Current Pursuit

• Beach Brawl in September
• HYROX in November
• Continuing to push herself physically and mentally
• Learning to be comfortable with just how strong she is

For Shannah, the pursuit isn’t about proving something.

It’s about gratitude.

Gratitude for what her body can do. For the strength she’s built. For the opportunity to keep finding out what she’s capable of.

She’s a mother. A nurse. A firefighter. A partner. An athlete.

And after more than a decade of CrossFit, she can finally say it without qualifying it:

“I’m really strong.”

That’s what CHLKDUP is built for.

Nobody gets excited about rowing intervals.

5:15 showed up anyway.

Bethany Smyers

Origin

“I had just moved to a new state and didn’t really know anyone. An acquaintance invited me to a free Saturday CrossFit class, and I was hooked.”

Current Pursuit

• Qualifying for Individual In-Person Semifinals
• Building her gym’s CrossFit Kids program
• Using her platform and experience to help others grow physically and mentally

Every athlete’s story starts somewhere.

For Bethany, it started by walking into a gym where she didn’t know anyone.

Today, she’s chasing big goals of her own while helping create opportunities for the next generation to find the same sport that changed her life.

That’s what CHLKDUP is built for.

Strength that shows up outside the gym.

Not every session is loud.

Some of the most important work happens when it’s just you and the machine.
