It’s always an honor to be able to speak at events and be able to tell the story of my life’s journey and even cooler when I get to share the stage with someone like Kevin Nguyen and talk about what it’s like growing up as an Asian gamer in Hawaii that’s fighting to make a living in esports on the islands

Our industry has so much potential to achieve here on the islands and Workin Gamerz is gonna do its part in bringing esports and gaming to people around the islands whether it’s as an event a tournament or our leagues

Giving back to the community comes in many forms and Sammy Yee and University of Hawai'i Esports gave me the ability to give back to the community by speaking to campers from UH Manoas Level Up camp about how esports and gaming have changed my life

Getting the opportunity to speak and tell them about my personal journey through life was made hard by being a shy and awkward kid but how gaming gave me the confidence I needed to be able to speak out and get to know others was such a blessing

For the students privacy I’ve blurred out their faces but our time together was filled with inspiring questions about how gaming has given them all chances to meet others, make friends, allowed me opportunities to travel the world and even start my own business

Gaming has a bright future and students like these rely on it to learn more possibilities in the world

Little bit of June dump coming

But one of the amazing events I was able to attend at the end of June was the Hawaii's Creative Industries Meet & Greet at the Entrepreneurs Sandbox Entrepreneurs Sandbox

It was an amazing event where I got to sit on a panel with titans from Hawaiis creative industries to answer questions and network with people from the community on how we can bolster the creative economy here in Hawaii and what that could look like

We tackled everything from arts, movies, VFX, game design, esports and even AI I’m so thankful to have been invited to speak getting to meet so many wonderful professionals both new people on the scene like myself as well as seasoned veterans of their industries was truly a blessing to be able to stand shoulder to shoulder with them

Through initiatives like not only are these events possible but businesses like Workin Gamerz are able to sprout on our little island and I look forward to many more up and comers that want to take on the challenge of building here in Hawaii

Workin Gamerz’s 4th of July Double Header Tournament this Saturday, July 4th.

We’re running two separate 1v1 tournaments:
🎮 League of Legends 1v1
🎯 Valorant 1v1

🏆 Each tournament winner receives a $100 prize.
💵 It’s $10 to enter one tournament or $15 to enter both.

Check-in starts at 4:45 PM HST in the Workin Gamerz Discord, with the tournaments running from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM HST.

It’s a fun chance to test your skills, meet other players, and finally settle who is THAT GUY in the friend group. You do not need a full team since both events are 1v1.
