Nobody sees my favorite part of paddling.

Right before I head back in, I sit down.

Straddle my board.

Dip my toes in the ocean.

Which 🧜🏽‍♀️ if you know my story…used to be enough to make me pass out.

I was completely aquaphobic 😳

And honestly?

I still get anxiety doing it.

But I close my eyes anyway 🧜🏽‍♀️

Look up.
Feel the sun kissing my face.

And I just say... good morning, ocean.

I let my body feel her rocking.

How powerful she is.
How beautiful she is.
How she holds me anyway.

Nobody sees this part.

No content.
No camera.
No audience.

Just me and her.

This is why I do what I do 🌊 because every woman deserves a moment where the water holds her and she finally stops holding everything else.

Room 7 had a man who was going to start surfing “when things slowed down.”

I was 25, working surgical oncology, charting vitals on people who ran out of time in the middle of their plans.

You learn something in that unit that nobody teaches you in nursing school.

Life is not fragile the way people say it is. It’s specific. It runs out on a Tuesday. In the middle of a sentence. Before the trip gets booked.

And fear? Fear is the most expensive thing you will ever own. Because it doesn’t take your money. It takes your time. And you don’t get an invoice until it’s too late.

I stopped waiting after that unit.
