I first met Kurt in January of 1991. The team i worked for bought the second dyno he ever sold.
And that’s the beginning of my journey.

Fired!!! Kurt was fired from Bill Elliot's race team by Ernie. Engineers were just not welcomed back then. Kurt got the last laugh, thats for certain. Engineers run the show now!!

My story about Kurt, or as he was known early on "Dirt" Roehrig. He was capable of making and leaving a mess when he was done.

The Roehrig Engineering SD -small dyno started in 1994 and changed REI’s product range dramatically for the good.
This 5HP tabletop dyno went on to be the best seller and have several evolutions over time.
The picture should actually be Kurt and Michael with the first SD at the NEC trade show.
It is important to note that Kurt deviated from his competition and used a scotch-yoke design rather than the inferior connecting rod. A choice that is still used today.
