This evening, I had the opportunity to attend an informative and inspiring educational session on depression and the treatment of depressive disorders, presented by Dr. Lisa Harding, MD, a board-certified psychiatrist and expert in depression and interventional psychiatry.
Dr. Harding brings extensive expertise in the treatment of depression, including Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), IV Ketamine, Spravato (esketamine), and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). She completed her psychiatry residency at the Yale School of Medicine, where she served as Chief of Interventional Psychiatry, and has performed thousands of interventional psychiatric procedures. Her expertise also includes managing complex medication regimens and utilizing various psychotherapy approaches.
Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Harding has been actively involved with the American Psychiatric Association, including serving as a Foundation Ambassador. She was also selected as a Diversity Leadership Fellow and an American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law Rappeport Fellow—prestigious national fellowship opportunities.
The program was sponsored by the Haitian American Psychiatric Association (HAPA) and provided valuable education on the evolving approaches available for individuals living with depression.
As a psychiatric mental health provider, I left the session feeling motivated, inspired, and even better prepared to continue supporting and treating individuals suffering from depression. Continuing education reminds us that learning never stops and every new insight gives us another opportunity to improve the lives of the patients and communities we serve.
Knowledge strengthens practice. Compassion strengthens care. Together, they can help restore hope.
