Potts, Barnes Named TSSN State Farm Athletes of the Week

By TSSN Staff Reports

Presented by Carey Bass - State Farm Insurance Agent

Two standout performances and the impact each athlete continues to make on their respective programs have earned Mileigh Potts of Trousdale County and Baylor Barnes of Livingston Academy this week’s TSSN State Farm Carey Bass Athletes of the Week honors.

Female Athlete of the Week — Mileigh Potts, Trousdale County Volleyball

Potts continues to emerge as a difference-maker for the Lady Yellow Jackets.

The Trousdale County standout delivered 15 kills and six digs against Jo Byrns, providing production at the net while also contributing defensively.

But Potts’ value to Trousdale County goes beyond the stat sheet. Her leadership and commitment to the program have helped the Lady Yellow Jackets continue working toward becoming a contender.

Her combination of offensive production, competitiveness and leadership made Potts the choice for this week’s TSSN State Farm Female Athlete of the Week.

Male Athlete of the Week — Baylor Barnes, Livingston Academy Football

Only a sophomore, Barnes continues to establish himself as one of the Wildcats’ most dangerous perimeter weapons.

Against York Institute, Barnes hauled in five receptions for 130 yards and two touchdowns, accounting for both Livingston Academy scores in the matchup.

His ability to stretch the field while also serving as a dependable possession receiver gives the Wildcats another dimension offensively. With plenty of football still ahead of him, Barnes is already developing into a significant part of Livingston Academy’s passing attack.

That performance earns Barnes recognition as the TSSN State Farm Male Athlete of the Week.

Congratulations to This Week’s Winners

TSSN congratulates Mileigh Potts and Baylor Barnes and thanks everyone who voted, shared the Athlete of the Week poll and continues to support student-athletes throughout the Upper Cumberland.

The TSSN Athletes of the Week are presented by State Farm — Carey Bass, Agent, recognizing outstanding student-athletes and their accomplishments across the region.

Five Standouts Named Finalists for State Farm Carey Bass Upper Cumberland Female Athlete of the Week

By TSSN Staff Reports

Presented by Carey Bass

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Another week of standout performances across the Upper Cumberland has produced five finalists for the State Farm Carey Bass Upper Cumberland Female Athlete of the Week, with cross country, soccer and volleyball all represented in this week’s field.

The nominees for the week of September 13, 2026, are Grace Hampshire of Cookeville, Sophia Martinez of Cumberland County, Addilyn Smith of Cannon County, Mileigh Potts of Trousdale County and Averi Beyers of Clarkrange.

Graci Hampshire — Cookeville Cross Country

Cookeville freshman Graci Hampshire continues to make an immediate impact for the Lady Cavaliers.

Hampshire led Cookeville with a strong 21:36 over three miles at the Mid State Cross Country event at The Hermitage in Nashville. The freshman has quickly established herself as one of the young runners to watch in the Upper Cumberland this fall.

Sophia Martinez — Cumberland County Soccer

Few players filled up the scoring column quite like Sophia Martinez did this week.

The Cumberland County standout delivered a hat trick with three goals against Rockwood on Tuesday, then came right back Thursday and produced two goals and an assist against DeKalb County.

That gives Martinez an impressive five goals and one assist across two matches as she continues to provide a major offensive spark for the Lady Jets.

Addilyn Smith — Cannon County Volleyball

Addilyn Smith put together back-to-back double-doubles for Cannon County.

Smith finished with 12 kills and 10 digs against Moore County, then followed it with 10 kills and 20 digs against Monterey.

Despite the Lady Lions coming up short in both matches, Smith’s production stood out. She totaled 22 kills and 30 digs across the two contests, contributing on both sides of the net.

Mileigh Potts — Trousdale County Volleyball

Mileigh Potts delivered a big performance for Trousdale County in its matchup with Jo Byrns.

Potts recorded 15 kills and six digs in just three sets, providing the Lady Jackets with an offensive weapon at the net while also contributing defensively.

Averi Beyers — Clarkrange Volleyball

Clarkrange senior libero Averi Beyers turned in an all-around week for the Lady Buffaloes in matches against Red Boiling Springs and York Institute.

Beyers totaled 27 digs, three kills, eight aces and three assists over the two matches. Her defensive work from the back row combined with eight service aces made her impact felt in several different phases of the game.

Now It’s Time to Vote

Five athletes. Three different sports. Five performances worthy of recognition.

Graci Hampshire. Sophia Martinez. Addilyn Smith. Mileigh Potts. Averi Beyers.

Now the decision belongs to the Upper Cumberland sports fans.

Voting is open for the State Farm Carey Bass Upper Cumberland Female Athlete of the Week, with the winner earning this week’s honor from Tri-Star Sports Network.
