We had a great time at Larry King Law's Langley Speedway in race #3 for the bandoleros. Ryan was 5th on the speed charts in both practices and backed that up with his best qualifying time to start 5th. He showed great improvement on his starts and worked his way to 4th after a car in front suffered a mechanical problem. He maintained 4th on two additional restarts and improved his person best lap time by 3/10 of a second. He's having a blast. Unfortunately the crew chief forgot to start the GoPro cameras so we can't show you the action.

Thanks to those that support our race team.

A quick update/recap after race #2 of the season. With the results official, we can officially celebrate Ryan's 4th place finish Saturday. He is also sitting 2nd in the points standings. The start of the season has exceeded our expectations but we still have a lot of work to do to continue the forward momentum. We are busy preparing for our next race at Larry King Law's Langley Speedway on May 9th.

In recent years, the higher cost of living has been felt by many people. This can increase economic hardships which may lead to more food insecurities and hunger in our communities. Since 1986, the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank has been a leading hunger relief organization serving the greater Peninsula area.

This racing season you will see the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank logo flying around Larry King Law's Langley Speedway on the #9 Ryan Seay Racing bandolero to help raise awareness of the need for help from our community to fight hunger and food insecurities.

There are several easy ways we can help. One is through donations. With the help of partner organizations, think food distributors and wholesalers, the VPF can turn every $1 of donation into almost 3 whole meals. And of course donations of non-perishable food items are always welcome. A second way to help is through volunteering your time. Food arrives on large pallets and needs to be individually boxed for families to be distributed to local neighborhoods through local food pantries, shelters, faith-based organizations and schools.

We stopped by the foodbank Wednesday to learn how the operation works and volunteer some time on the box packing assembly line. Ryan said the work was fun and he felt good about helping people out.

For more information on ways you can help or if you are in need of assistance with food insecurity, check out the VPF page or their website: www.hrfoodbank.org

Yesterday was busy and the crew chief didn't find time to post updates throughout the day. It was a race against Mother Nature at Larry King Law's Langley Speedway and thankfully the rain held off long enough to get a few races in, including the bandoleros. We'll give an update when the official results are posted* but the car count doubled from the 1st race up to 8 cars, a level we're used to seeing at Langley. Ryan was 5th on the speed charts in both practices and qualifying. Ryan ran in the top 5 all race and a late race caution for a spin by the #31 Georgia Causey Motorsports moved Ryan up to 4th. Georgia had to start from the back and did a great job of flying back towards the front of the field with less than 5 laps to go. She was on Ryan's bumper at the start of the final lap and through some very clean racing by Georgia, Ryan was able to defend the position and cross the line 4th. He also ran another personal best lap time, joining the 20 second club with a 20.92. We are thankful for a wonderful day at the track.

*there appears to have been a glitch in timing and scoring that didn't score Ryan's last lap. Unofficially he was credited with 7th place, one lap down. His transponder has not been a problem so far this season. We checked with an official at the tech shed after the race who called up to the scoring tower to check on the situation. The scoring tower indicated Ryan should be officially scored 4th in the race. We look forward to seeing the official results in a day or two to properly celebrate his finish.

As always we are thankful for our sponsors and supporters:

Larry King Law's Langley Speedway is like a superspeedway for the bandos. Reducing the rolling resistance of the car is critical. As the crew chief performed maintenance on the wheel bearings, the driver was cleaning his office space. Take a look at all the debris and gravel that gets tossed into the cockpit on raceday.
