A successful day by many measures!
This is our fourth consecutive year starting our season playing for Pink Ribbon Softball, Inc. . This year we raised an impressive $5,645 for Pink! This is our highest annual total so far!!! Thank you to everyone who supported our girls along the way!!
We had the honor of being joined by one of Coach Abbie's best friends & current breast cancer warrior. Maureen Wells is currently battling stage two triple negative ductal carcinoma. Mo has joined the sad and scary statistic of being 1 in 8 women who are diagnosed with breast cancer. More than that, Mo is an amazing softball player, she is a Pennington Prep hall of famer, a D1 softballer, a nationally ranked slow-pitch champion, a third generation Bonnie, an aunt, a daughter, a dog momma, a CPA, a coach, a light in every room she walks into, and a friend to everyone she has ever met... and now, she is one of the reasons most near and dear to our heart that we play!
Now let's talk softball!!
Across all three games our pitchers gave up just four hits. Three coming in the championship. In game one V Robbinsville 10u 2, Scarlett Thomas and our stunning defense gave up just one hit. In game two against Bordentown Bombers Roberts, Eliana Sylvester threw a complete game no hitter with just one walk! Our defense made some lights out plays from all over the diamond to keep Ellie's no hitter intact!
The first two games were mercy rule shut outs and they allowed just two runs in the Championship, outscoring their opponents 31-2 throughout the day.
While the 10u Open division was small this year, we are still proud to have kicked our second year 10u off on a high note and bring home the win!!
Change is hard to see when it happens gradually, but after watching these girls battle it out so far this fall, they are without a doubt playing at a whole new level!
We are excited to see what else these girls can accomplish this season, something tells me the best is yet to come!
