🏁 ELR Race Recap 🏁
🏁 Briggs & Stratton Motorplex at Road America 🏁
🏁 Route 66 Sprint Series 🏁

Evan came into the fourth and final regional round at Road America with speed from the moment we unloaded. He topped the charts in both 206 Sportsman and Mini Swift practice, setting the tone for a huge weekend.

In 206 Sportsman, Evan qualified P2 (missing the pole by .205 seconds) and then went to work winning Heat 1, Heat 2, and the 18-lap Final. The top 5 kids were incredibly close in speed and were dicing it up every race, they really did put on a show that was great to watch! All 3 races were battles to the checkered flag, with Evan inevitably holding off Liam Fohr to take the win by just 0.198 seconds. 🏁

Mini Swift was more of the same. Evan qualified on the pole, swept Heat 1 and Heat 2, putting himself in position for another shot at the top step. In the 18-lap Final, he delivered again, taking the checkered flag first completing the DOUBLE! πŸ†πŸ†

Two classes.
Four heat race wins.
Two final wins.
A PERFECT 6-FOR-6 IN RACINGπŸ”₯

And with that, Evan closes out the final Route 66 regional weekend standing on top of the podium in BOTH Sportsman and MiniSwift.

Huge thank you to Gary @ Lawson Speed Shop, Daniel & Alisa @ Woltjer Racing Engines, and the entire crew at Franklin Motorsports for giving Evan the rocket ship power and the best karts all weekend πŸš€ πŸš‚

What a weekend. What a way to finish the regional season

DOUBLE WINS @ ROAD AMERICA!

🏁 Weeknight Series: Race 10 🏁

Another Tuesday night means another race at the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex at Road America…At least for a few more weeks

Tonight was a reminder that every race is a reset,a fresh start, and another opportunity. And all three races came down to the final lap.

Heat 1 was absolute chaos, Evan started in the back but stayed in the fight and made the pass on the last lap for the WIN! πŸ†

Heat 2 flipped the script. Evan led late, but the winning move came against him on the final lap, finishing P2.

Then came the feature, another battle that went all the way down to the wire. Evan again led late, but was passed on the final lap, crossing the line just 0.128 seconds behind.

Throw Us Into the Deep End

🏁 ELR Race Recap 🏁
🏁 RMC / Rotax Finals 🏁
🏁 New Castle Motorsports Park🏁

If there was ever a weekend designed to accelerate a driver’s learning curve, the RMC/Rotax Finals at New Castle was it

A brand-new series for us with Rotax engine packages we’ve never raced before. And, just to make things interesting, Evan’s first-ever weekend in a SHIFTER KART!

Friday gave us plenty of optimism. Evan adapted quickly to both MiniMax and the shifter, showing competitive pace throughout practice. By Happy Hour; the final practice before qualifying - he had driven the shifter all the way to P2, proving the speed was there.

Then Mother Nature showed up.

Saturday was soaked with rain, turning the weekend into a survival exercise. In shifter qualifying, disaster struck when Evan spun in the wet and couldn’t get the kart restarted, leaving us with no qualifying time after showing front-running speed just hours earlier.

The adversity didn’t stop there.

In the MiniMax heat race, Evan was collected in a Turn 1 incident and forced to fight his way back through the field.

Then came another first; the standing start in the shifter. After only a handful of practice starts, expecting an 11-year-old to perfectly launch a manual transmission race kart with a clutch was asking a lot. Evan stalled it on the start, dropping to the back before the race had begun. It was a tough lesson, but one every great shifter driver has learned at some point.

By Sunday, everything started to click.

Confidence grew. The lap times improved. The race craft sharpened.

The shifter final became the perfect example. Evan drove from the back into contention and, on the final lap, saw an opening to pass both fifth and fourth in the same corner. As he committed to the move, the fifth-place kart missed a shift, stacking up directly in front of him. With nowhere to go, contact ended what looked to be a certain top-six finish…..and very possibly fourth, with a heartbreaking DNF.

The results don’t show how much progress was made this weekend, they also won’t show an 11-year-old learning to race in the rain, adapting to a completely new engine package, learning to use a clutch and six-speed gearbox, figuring out standing starts, and racing wheel-to-wheel with some of the fastest kids in the country and beyond

Those lessons don’t disappear when the checkered flag falls.

This weekend wasn’t about trophies. It was about building a better race car driver and at the end of the weekend, Evan enjoyed the heck out of banging gears in a shifter kart for his first time and despite a crappy Saturday we had an enjoyable weekend

Much love to our sponsors who help us to gain these lessons!!!

🏁 ELR Race Recap 🏁
🏁 Road America Kart Club 🏁
🏁 Weeknight Series: Race 8 🏁
🏁 Backwards Race Night 🏁

Every driver had to throw the notebook out the window as tonights Backwards Race flipped the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex at Road America in reverse, forcing drivers to relearn braking zones, turn-in points, racing lines, and passing opportunities in just a few laps.

Heat 1 looked like a dominant victory for Evan until he was assessed a 5-second penalty for being judged to have too good of a start. He crossed the finish line 4.938 seconds ahead, but the penalty officially dropped him to P2β€”just 0.062 seconds short of overcoming it.

Heat 2 brought even more adversity. Contact in Turn 1 sent Evan to the back of the field, but he carved his way through the pack, reclaiming the lead and completing a comeback victory.

By the feature, there was no stopping the 007 as Evan checked out from the field, set the fastest lap of the race (44.842 seconds), and crossed the finish line 8.333 seconds ahead of second place.

On a night where everyone had to relearn the track, Evan proved that speed is one thing, but adaptability wins races. πŸ†

On to the national race weekend!

🏁 ELR Race Recap 🏁
🏁 Road America Kart Club 🏁
🏁 Weeknight Series: Race 6 🏁
🏁 (Rescheduled due to Heat) 🏁

If there was a β€œDo Not Disturb” setting on a go-kart, Evan found it Thursday night.

The evening started with pole position, followed by wins in Heat 1, Heat 2, and the 10-lap feature. Once he got to the front, he treated it like reserved parking.

By the checkered flag, the lead had grown to 6.311 secondsβ€”which, in Briggs 206 racing, is about enough time to wave to the corner workers on the cool-down lap.

Results:
🏁 Pole Position
πŸ₯‡ Heat 1 Winner
πŸ₯‡ Heat 2 Winner
πŸ₯‡ Feature Winner

🏁 ELR Race Recap 🏁
🏁 Road America Kart Club 🏁
🏁 Weeknight Series: Race 7 🏁

Another strong night at the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex at Road America for Evan Liesch.

The evening began with a solid qualifying effort, as Evan missed pole position by just 0.045 seconds, earning P2 behind Logan Prunty.

Then the luck of the draw came into play.

The inversion dice landed on 6, dropping Evan back to 5th on the grid in a competitive 16-kart Sportsman field. Instead of starting on the front row, he had work to do.

Heat Race 1? Win.

Heat Race 2? Another win.

With the feature lined up, Evan continued to make the most of a fast kart, taking the lead and driving to his third victory of the night to complete the clean sweep.

The numbers from the evening:
🏁 Qualified P2, just 0.045 seconds off pole.
🎲 Inversion dropped him to P5.
πŸ₯‡ Heat 1 Winner.
πŸ₯‡ Heat 2 Winner.
πŸ₯‡ Feature Winner.

With Race #6 postponed last week because of the extreme heat, so there’s no break just yet. The Road America Kart Club heads right back to the Motorplex Thursday night to make up the postponed race before finally enjoying a weekend off.

On to Thursday! 🏁πŸ’ͺ

🏁 ELR Race Recap | Route 66 Sprint Series Round 3 | Badger Kart Club / Mill-Rite Raceway 🏁

Some weekends are about speed.

Others are about resilience.

This one was about both.

Evan arrived at Mill-Rite Raceway with pace in both Briggs 206 Sportsman and Mini Swift, but proving you have speed and turning it into trophies are two very different things.

In Briggs 206 Sportsman, it was absolute domination.

Pole Position.

Heat Race 1 Winner.

Heat Race 2 Winner.

18-lap Final Winner.

A clean sweep.

From the moment qualifying ended, Evan controlled the weekend, never giving the field an opportunity to challenge. Lap after lap he stretched the gap, eventually driving away for a commanding victory to finish one of his most complete weekends of the season. Huge Thank You to Gary Lawson over at Lawson Speed Shop for always giving us the rocket power!

But the story of the weekend wasn’t finished.

Over in Mini Swift, the challenge was much bigger.

No one had beaten Michael Tsyupka all season.

Friday and Saturday showed the speed was there, but racing luck wasn’t.

After qualifying on the pole, Evan was collected in an opening-lap incident in both heat races. Instead of fighting for wins, he spent each race charging back through the fieldβ€”recovering to 4th in one heat and 3rd in the other. Those comeback drives earned him the third starting spot for Sunday’s final, but left one question unanswered:

Did he have enough to beat the undefeated favorite?

This time, the opening lap stayed clean.

For sixteen laps, Evan sat glued to Tsyupka’s rear bumper, refusing to let the leader escape. Every corner looked calculated. Every lap looked patient.

Then the Flagman threw up two sticks (two laps to go)

That was all he needed.

With a lap and a half remaining, Evan made his move.

Clean.

Decisive.

Final.

Within moments, the gap began to grow, and by the checkered flag he had opened it to nearly three tenths of a second, handing the previously unbeaten driver his first defeat of the Route 66 season.

Two classes. Two victories. One unforgettable weekend.

We tell our kids something that sounds simple, but isn’t always easy to live out:

β€œWhether you think you can, or you think you can’t… you’re right.”

Confidence isn’t pretending something will happen. It’s believing enough in yourself to keep showing up after the setbacks, trusting the work you’ve put in, and attacking the next opportunity as if it belongs to you.

This weekend, Evan proved exactly that.

Because champions aren’t defined by never getting knocked down.

They’re defined by what they believe is possible when they get back up.

πŸ† Route 66 Round 3
πŸ₯‡ Briggs 206 Sportsman Winner (Clean Sweep: Pole, Heat 1, Heat 2 & Feature)
πŸ₯‡ Mini Swift Winner
