What we have been up to lately!

Keeping our Icelandic horses comfortable during the summer heat!

Icelandic horses are incredibly hardy, but they’re naturally adapted to Iceland’s cool climate. Hot and humid weather can make it more difficult for them to regulate their body temperature, so a little extra summer care goes a long way.

Here are a few ways we help keep them cool:
💧 Fresh, cool water
🌳 Access to shade
💨 Good airflow
🌅 Exercise during the cooler parts of the day
🚿 Cooling down after activity
👀 Monitoring closely for signs of heat stress
