GOALMONSTER … A truly unique new way to play GK Wars — In the new format, GKs are introduced to so many more game real scenarios including, 1v1, stalking, set piece work, organization, effective counter attack, distribution and tactical possession on a larger field, rather than just simple shot stopping and ball striking which is what they primarily get out of singles competition.
That said, our new GOALMONSTER events offer ‘team’ competitions, as well as singles for the ‘Masters’ division (high school +). You can register as a team in one transaction at a discount ($99), or if you don’t have anyone in mind to partner with, can enter competition as a ‘single’ ($55 for individual, or $65 for ‘Masters’ 1v1) and will be paired with another GK that is similar age within the bracket allowances. Birth years 2017-2015 are the ‘Juniors’ division and can be coed. The ‘Select’ (2015-2013) and Advanced (2012+) divisions will be divided into boys and girls divisions. Every participant will get at least 4 matches and there are BIG prizes for both the champions and runners up in each bracket. This summer’s GOALMONSTER will take place the morning of Friday, July 10th Marion Field (500 Lobo Lane, Little Elm 75068). How do we define what a truly ‘elite’ GK is? At the GKU, not all of our students are elite, but we are ridiculously proud of those that have believed in our methodology and persevered through years of our classrooms to achieve what our vision of the four core characteristics of an elite GK are … 1) Ability to maintain balance in all technical movements, 2) Ability to demonstrate clean handling with consistency, 3) Ability to make quick decisions in attack with intentional, possessive distribution, and 4) Having ‘Presence’ (tactical vision + field command + confidence).
Since 2020, The GKU has averaged graduating almost 6 students per year on to achieve their goals’ of playing at the next level ...

Kids love sugar. But they need protein (and spinach 👍🏼) …
I’m what most would call old at this point so I may be getting a bit grumpy, but most everything I see out there from my GK coaching brethren is ‘dessert’.
Sure, all the kiddos want it … To go big across the goal for a ‘showtimer’. They love a session loaded with a hundred silly directionally pre-determined reps in mostly non-game real scenarios with little to no coaching correction. It’s fun … But it’s also chocolate cake.
What a young GK needs is what most don’t necessarily want … Slower paced, breakdown based, cerebral classrooms where ‘learning’, not chocolate cake, is priority … It’s the meat and potatoes (and spinach 😉) that build the GK.
Beyond the truth here ^ … Just a few (of many) points that set the GKU apart from the majority —
We are the only option out there that utilizes a TRUE classroom-style environment with emphasis on the ‘why’ in which every athlete is fully engaged in all activities, at all times. This is especially ideal for young GKs, as well as the older kids that have primarily experienced the usual ‘rep heavy, unrealistic scenario’ coaching philosophies.
We utilize a comprehensive, game-real scenario-based 18 week curriculum progression which has been built and fine tuned over the course of 20+ years of experience with an emphasis on the principal tactical differentiators in the position ... ‘presence’ and ‘speed of thought’.
We are more than just another coach for your athlete, but a partner on their developmental path, offering match analysis, family-coach conferences, and team placement services, in addition to our extensive, year-round programming options.
And most importantly, you won’t find a head coach that loves his athletes and what he does more than I do. Come check us out this Summer at YMCA Frisco … http://thegoalkeeperu.com/classes (or click here http://www.thegoalkeeperu.com/athletesandendorsements for testimonials from our families + college GK profiles)! 140 unique GKs in the past year + 39 college soccer dreams come true in the past 6 years tell our story 🙂⚽️

PSA:
About 76% of the goals your GK concedes this season would be deemed unsavable … 20% are borderline and just 4% are genuine, expected must-saves.
These ^ numbers come from a study analysis of 775 goals allowed over the past year. And they raise a question almost no GK coach is asked:
If the save itself is 50% of worldwide GK ‘training’ still directionally predictable, isolated shot-stopping work? Elite GK coaches rank decision-making as the #1 goalkeeping skill. Yet almost nobody teaches it.
Teach (don’t train) what matters. ‘Drills’ fill a session … Science builds the goalkeeper.
Let’s be better.
