A Reining Saddle Doesn’t Put Your Legs Out of Position.

There’s a common misconception that a rider simply cannot achieve a correct, balanced leg position in a reining saddle. These photos are a great example of why that isn’t necessarily true.

Proper rider position isn’t determined by the word “reining” stamped on a saddle tree. When the saddle is appropriately designed and balanced for the horse and rider, the rider can sit naturally with the ear, shoulder, hip, and heel in alignment without fighting the saddle to get there.

As pictured here in one of our Phelix reining saddles, the rider is able to maintain a centered seat with her leg underneath her body rather than being forced forward into a chair seat position.

Tree design, ground seat, stirrup leather placement, seat size, and the individual rider all contribute to how a saddle positions the rider.

The discipline of the saddle doesn’t determine proper position. The way the saddle is built and how it fits the individual combination , matters.

At Phelix Custom Saddlery, we believe saddle design should support correct biomechanics, not work against them.
