Distance does not mean dead.
You love each other, but somewhere along the way, you start living more like roommates than husband and wife.
Weeks turn into months without intimacy. Conversations become logistics. Date nights disappear. You’re still doing life together, but quietly feeling far apart.
We’ve been there!!
As we approach 18 years of marriage, we want you to hear this from people who know what it feels like to want to quit.
Don’t quit on a season that may be asking for healing.
About five years ago, I stopped using the “D” word — divorce. David stopped long before I did. Having both walked through failed marriages, quitting sometimes felt easier than doing the work of healing.
But healing was worth it.
We’re sharing our story to encourage you: stay the course and get help. Your marriage may feel disconnected right now, but reconnection is possible. 🙏🏼♥️

The Vision of the Radiant Bride 👰🏻 👰🏽♀️
🌹 roses thrown onto a stage at the end of a performance. Then walking off that stage. The mask left behind. The script torn. No longer performing.
Act IV of my memoir Unmasked, the final scene ends with standing radiant as a bride — unveiled, unashamed, and fully alive.
This is not just a personal vision. It is an invitation for every woman, every man, every soul who has been hiding behind a mask.
You were never meant to perform your way into belonging. You were formed to carry the glory of God — not the expectations of others.
If you’re ready for deeper conversations about authenticity, faith, healing, and what real transformation looks like, there are two ways to begin:

Why is honesty so hard?
The things that keep us up at night, that requires us to tell the truth and refuse to live in denial any longer. Oftentimes, we don’t even know what or why we repeat the same cycles. It’s buried deep but it’s still there running in the background or something gets “triggered” that exposes that something is not right.
In writing Unmasked, I needed to work with a Clinical Trauma Therapist to pursue more inner healing. It became obvious as I deliberately revisited my past experiences to articulate on pages.
We can be high functioning, successful, spiritually active, and still carrying stories we’ve never fully brought into the light. Silence has a way of convincing us we are alone and nothing will ever change. Honesty begins to break that agreement.
I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments if you’re comfortable sharing your experience with me. ♥️🤟🏼
