My relationship with food has had a lot of iterations and with that has had to come learning and unlearning. But the bottom line is that I can’t fuel by body based on trends or what I see other people doing, because I have a different body and different needs. My goals are performance, hormone health, being injury free, and having energy to play with my kids. And that takes a lot of fuel!!

What food rules have you had to learn?

Medal Monday!! Vail Hill Climb ✅

One thing I love about running is that there are so many ways you can challenge yourself. An all out mile, a marathon, a 10k, a trail race. And let me tell you this race was HARD! 8 miles straight up hill, over 2,000ft of elevation gain.

The running community never ceases to inspire me! Now back to training for my first marathon 🫡

My dad ran it too! He’s 77!!! I hope i am still running in 40 years.

So many switchbacks…

Proof of hard lol

Pain cave

Such a beautiful course!

The real MVP of the morning 🤍

Enjoying the ride down!!

I’ve learned the hard way that hormonal health is the foundation of all health. When my hormones are out of whack, I notice it physically and mentally. It shows up as brain fog, bloating, irritability, debilitating fatigue, anxiety. And all that happens before you even lose your period.

I’m aware that marathon training can be depleting and I’m super sensitive to depletion, so I’m going to do my best to support my hormones during this process.

Will I do everything perfectly? Definitely not, but I’m going to try my best 🤍

I’ll be sharing what I’m learning along the way. If you’re training for a race, what’s one thing you’re doing to support your body beyond just logging miles?

I just love food and think it’s so pretty. There was a time i was scared of food, underfueled, and my mental health suffered because of it.

Intentionally nourishing myself is a must. Especially because I like to be so active, I have to make sure I’m eating enough to fuel that activity AND motherhood. I also like to make sure I have things on hand for my kids that have protein, fat, and fiber. When their blood sugar isn’t regulated, they have more meltdowns and mood swings too.

food is the foundation of health

It’s so fun to look back on the past year of training. After running a 10k last June, I decided to sign up for a half marathon. After that race in September, I caught the bug haha

I’m so proud of the progress I’ve made and excited for what’s next, but for now I’m also very excited not to be in a training block for the first time in like a year. I’m planing to take the next few months to focus on strength and running for fun!!

such a fun year! I started running in April as I was processing my birth experiences. I wanted something that would make me feel proud of my body after I felt it had left me down. I wanted to prove to myself I could set goals and stick to them after I felt I had let myself down. when I started, I couldn’t run a mile without stopping and the I ran a half 9 months postpartum!

I have felt so proud of myself for continuing to show up, especially as the weather has gotten cold. and those snowy, early morning runs have been some of my favorites!

I’m also so grateful for the community running has brought me, especially through this page. so thank you for cheering me on! and for the people who found this page before running, thanks for sticking around 😉

I am so excited for 2026. I’ve got some big goals to smash!!

Breastfeeding while training? 100% possible and the research backs it up

Quick science: moderate aerobic & resistance exercise does not reduce milk volume or harm infant growth (Dewey et al.; Pediatrics meta-analyses). Recent studies show breastfeeding isn’t linked to higher injury risk and supports individualized, supported returns to activity (meaning it can look different for everyone).

Strenuous sessions can temporarily raise lactate in milk and some babies may be briefly fussy, but infant growth and milk quality remain normal.

And above all, make sure you’re fueling! You want to protect your supply, but it’s also important to support your own nutrient stores but eating enough calories.

I personally notice a huge difference in my energy and performance when I’m not eating enough carbs as a breastfeeding runner!

You don’t have to choose between movement and milk, our bodies age incredible when we give them the support they need!
