Friends in Action is a rehabilitation clubhouse, sponsored by BJC Behavioral Health, supporting members on their recovery path. The Clubhouse day is centered on members and staff partnering to complete the work of the Clubhouse during the work ordered day. Each member is needed, wanted, and expected at Clubhouse. Members use their skills/talents every day at Clubhouse. Through the support of Clubhouse, recovery is possible allowing adults with mental illness to integrate back into the community as full productive citizens. While building relationships at Clubhouse, members have the opportunity to engage in meaningful work in a safe and secure place.
* Clubhouse is a community of people helping people.
* Membership includes about 200 BJC BH consumers.
* Clubhouse work is divided into various areas: Administration/Clerical, Culinary/Food Service, Fundraising, Fine Arts/Creative Arts, and Maintenance/Housekeeping; this allows the member to choose his/her area of interest/expertise.
* Through Clubhouse involvement, the member gains self-confidence.
* Clubhouse has an evening/weekend/holiday program for members to engage in social/leisure events.
* Clubhouse supports and assists members with their own education and/or employment goals.
